A Successful Entertainment.
A* entertainment of a highly artistic character, was given in the opera house, Tuesday night, for the benefit of the Christain Endeavor Society. The audience was large and the greater part of it, young people belonging to the schools. Instrumental music was delightly rendered, by our artistic young pianist, Miss Moss, while Prof. Fritz and W. W. Wishard pleased all lovsrs of the cornet, by their beautiful duet and solo. Miss Pearl Hollister and Mabie Matheson gave some charming vocal soloes, and were encored. The principal performer Miss Nelle Finch, in all her readings, and she touched on all varieties of literature, was received with delight, and recalled again and again. Miss Finch is more than usually proficient in Delsarte, and although much stronger in comedy than tragedy, all was thoroughly enjoyed, by her enthusiastic hearers. “At the Photographer’s'’ was a special hit, while “Bill Smith” convulsed the boys and girls. Miss Finch’s youth and girlish beauty make all her performances especially attractive, and “Jesus Lover of my Soul,” could scarcely be surpassed, for grace in pantomine.
