Cannot Dodge the Indiana Law.
Under the common school law it is made the duty of the township trustees to meet every two years and elect a county superintendent,
the law designating the first Monday in June. Where the two parties have been equally divided it has been the custom for the trustees favoring the superintendent to remain away from the election and thus continue him in office. The supreme court, in a case coining up from Blackford county held that trustees may be mandated and compelled to attend the election, and an order was issued for the trustees of the county to convene and elect a superintendent.
