Waterworks Items.

Thursday’s Daily. Of the 63 or 64 men on the trenching and pipe laying job, about 45 are Rensselaer men. The bosses and the expert pipe layers are about all who do not live here. Every man who can do a good day’s work with shovel and pick can have work, at the rate of 15 cents per hour. Preference is given to men

living here, and to men having families. The pipe layers came back across the river this morning, and went to work on Front street, south of Washington. They did not finish up across the river on account of having found considerable rock blasting, on River street. Up at the power house excavations are in progress for the foundations of the water tower. Drilling for the big well is interrupted today, by the drill breaking last night. It had to be sent To Chicago, for repairs.
