During the last week in September the price of silver dropped over six per cent. It will be difficult for the free-coinage theorists to persuade people that a metal which fluctuates in this manner can be a safe standard of value.

Last year William McKinley said that in his judgment it was better to open the mills of the United States to home labor than to open the mints of this country to the silver of the world. There are many others who didn't think so then but who have since reached the same conclusion.

The state authorities have sent out replies to sportsmen saying that according to the law of last legislature quails may be killed between the 10th day of November and the Ist dav of January so long as they are not shipped out of the state.. The last clause is an amendment made necessary because of Illinois hunters who would come to Northern Indiana and kill quail and then sell them over the stateline.
