75th Birthday.

On Sept. 20th ninety friends and relatives of Mrs. Adeline Carr, grandmother of James and Carry Carr, called upon her without her previous knowledge or consent, which to her was a great surprise indeed, at her excellent home with her sons and daughter in Newton Township, 3| miles south west of the city. A splendid dinner was served between one and three o’clock and at this time every one was busily engaged assisting the venerable lady to pass her seventy fifth mile post and it is useless to say that we succeeded. The occasion will be long remembered by all. It is proper to say that Mrs. Carrh as the appearance of one who has enjoyed the blessings of good health. She has been a resident of Jasper County for more than 45 years, is still vigorous and enjoyed the visit of her friends. There were present from Lafayette, Ind., Mr. Wm. Carr and wife,

and Mrs. Whitsett and son. From Morroco John Johnson and wife, Mrs. Archibald, Mrs. Ed. Johnson, James Johnson and family and Miss Essie Kendall. From Foresman James Kendall and wife. Mrs. Carr was presented with a beautiful plush upholstered rocker and a beautiful rug. The usual good byes were said with “Long live the hostess” and we all departed feeling that a good day had been well spent.
