Death of Rev. J. H. Claypool.
Word has been received of the death of Rev. J. H. Claypool, which took place at his home in the state of Washington, last Saturday. He was a brother of Rev. J. J. Claypool once of this locality, and was well known to many in this community. As a youpg man he once taught school in Rensselaer. Mr. Claypool had been in ill health for some time, suffering from a complication of diseases, and the announcement of his death was not unexpected. He was a member of the Northwest Indiana M. E. conference for a number of years, and filled some of the best appointments in the conference. He was presiding elder of the Lafayette district for five years. He went to the state of Washington with his family about 10 years ago, and resided there until his death. His sons Hon. Charles Claypool, and Rev. Ernest Claypool, are residents of that state, while his daughter Nellie, now Mrs. A. R. Colburn, resides at Michigan City. Mr. Claypool was one of the best known ministers in the conference, and was a man whose simplicity of character, earnest piety, and upright life won for him the confidence and admiration of all. The remains will be brought to Lafayette for burial, and are expected to arrive about Friday.
