Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 19, Number 4, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 17 September 1897 — “The Fast Mail.” [ARTICLE]

“The Fast Mail.”

A well filled house greeted Lincoln J. Carter’s Fast Mail company at the Ellis opera house last night, and judging from the many smiles and great applause during the evening everybody was well pleased, notwithstanding the oppressive heat that prevailed. It is one of Mr. Carter's maxims not to advertise anything he does not produce, and this time was no exception. The company is made up of stars without even one back number in the entire cast. The scenic productions were the finest ever displayed in Rensselaer and the mechanical operations of the fast mail, the freight train, and the steam boat with the explosion attached were simply perfect and speaks well for those having this part of the j>rogram in charge. Manager Ellis can always enjoy crowded houses if he succeeds in securing companies of the “Fast Mail” class. The next attraction will be “Old Farmer Hopkins,” presented by that popular young ' comedian, Frank S. Davidson. The date is Monday, Sept. 27.
