Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 19, Number 2, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 10 September 1897 — An Electric Bell. [ARTICLE]
An Electric Bell.
An extra railroad gang of about 35 men has returned to Rensselaer, and is at work on several changes at the depot. The track through town is to be raised about 6 inches, and that part west of the depot to be moved to the north, to bring it over near the Coen & Brady elevator. The side tracks are to be changed and moved about, considerable, and an automatic electric bell near the depot. This will ring whenever a train comes within 1200 feet of the crossing.
