Another Girl Gone
To The Reformatory at Indianapolis. <r This morning Judge Thompson committed Melcena Alkire to the Indiana Reform School for Girls, at Indianapolis to remain until she is 21, unless sooner discharged. The girl was 14 years old in May. She is an adopted daughter of John R. Warren, and has been vicious and incorrigible for some time. She has been in the habit of going out nights, with young men of bad reputation and in other ways going the downward path to destruction at a very rapid rate. At the reformatory, to which place she was taken this afternoon, by Sheriff Reed, the county pays half of her keeping and the state the other half. She was born in Republic Co., Kansas. Her mother is dead and her father’s residence is unknown.
