Gone to the Band Contest.
Today occurs the great band contest of the Northwest Indiana Band Association at Wolcott. The Rensselaer Citizens Band is taking part, and is entered in the second class and has strong expectations of taking the prize in that class. Unlike the method
pursued at the band contest here, last June, when the division into classes was made after the contest, at Wolcott there will be three classes formed at the start, and each band must enter whichever class it chooses, before the contest begins. The Rensselaer band has elected to enter the second class, which was a wise decision as there Would be no hope of defeating the Momence, 111. band, in the first class. That band and probably Wolcott will likely be all that enter in the first class. The second class is likely to have quite a number of entries and our boys will have to work hard if they get first place in it. The band went to Wolcott by team this morning, and a 'very large crowd of citizens went over, by the same route.
