Longevity. There is now living-, in Crosby township, in this county, an old gentleman, Mr. Oliver Hays, who was 102 years old in August last. His heailh is good, having never known a day's sickness. He draws a pension, and generally walks into town, 20 miles, to receive it, and
walks out, next day, to thc residence of
one of his grand-sons, and returns hone at his leisure. His wife is also still living, about 100 years old. This account isfrom his grandson. Cin. Rcpttb.
NEXT SATURDAY-. Next Saturday, the 15th instant, is the i day appointed for a meeting at this place, of these opposed to the unjust and oppressive taxation consequent upon the present system of internal improvements. If the day is good, we anticipate a large meeting. WTe have conversed with many country people on the subject, and wc find them very sensibly awake to the oppression about coming upon thcm, and they arc determin
ed not to receive the yoke without an effort to resist it. That's noble let thcm come, onc and all, to thc meeting, and by their resolves, stimulate oneanothcr to energetic and decisive and successful action. We have heard sonic persons say, lhat if lhey could dispose of their possessions here, they would leave thc State. These were men who have toiled for years to make this country what it is and now, when they
wish to sit down and rest, lhey are com
pelled to fly from oppression. ' Tis a hard fate, and we regret to hear such men state this to bc their determination. We advise
thcm to abandon such ideas, at least for thc
present, and come to the mcting on Sat
urday, and sec if something cannot bc done to avert thc impending oppression.
