MEXICO. We have been favored with the sight of a letter from the interior of Mexico, in which it is said that a project is on
foot to unite the northern Stales of
Mexico with the republic of Texas under one independent irovernment. The letter is dated Zaeatecas, July
28th, 1836, and states that the dissatisfaction through the northern provinces of Mexico is great and still increasing, and speak of the advantages of an independent Slate like that of Texas. The states who appear to be in favor of an alliance with Texas, are Tamaulipus, San Luis, Z acalecas, a part of
Jalisco, iNuevo Lion, Colahulia, Sonot a.the territory of California and New Mexico. The principal object of these States appears to be that of forming a new republic in connection with Texas. The division of Mexico is not a new

VEVAY AND NAPOLEON TURNPIKE. We perceive by a notice in the Ve-
vay Times, of last week, that the Board of Directors of the Vevay and Napoleon turnpike company, have ordered
books for subscription to the capital stock of said company, to be opened on the 15th instant, and kept open for one month, al the towns of Vevay, Mt, Sterling, New York, Patriot, Cross Plains, V ersailles and Napoleon. W e are pleased to see this move on the part of the above company, and we sincerely hope that they will commence their work, and proceed with it to a speedy completion. With this turnpike below us, and the Aurora turnpike above us, it may probably stimulate the Rising Sun and Napoleon company to do something with their charter. The Directors have not yet had a meeting, and in all probability nothing will be done, until another question, of far less importance to botli town and country, (that is, in our opinion.) is settled by the next Legislature. We understand that the Aurora and Napoleon company commenced surveying the route for their turnpike, on Thursday last. Success lo the enterprise.
