Shop-lifting. We understand a young girl from the country, went into a store a day or two since, for the purpose of disposing of some rags and the salesman being unable to attend to her at the moment, she took advantage of his presence at another part of the store, to steal several articles from the show case, consisting of ribbonds, bead reticule, gloves, Sec. She was traced and the goods recovered, though in a damaged state. The gentlemen from whom the goods were taken, through pity for the misguided girl, let her escape the rigors of the law; but it is hoped this will prove a warning, and convince her that '"honesty is the best policy." ib. Wheat is bringing high prices in Baltimore. The American of the 27th 'ult. says "The most inferior discriptions and truly inferior they are indeed 'readily bring $1 70 per bushel. The crop of Com. Ballard, of the U. S. Navy, has been among the best sent to market, the red wheat having sold for S'2 OG, and the white for 2 15 per bufhel."
