niPiiOYi:?II NT IN 1'ini ARMS. A Mr. Colt, cf Connecticut, has cxhihited in this city a newly invented rifle nd pistol, cf admirable construction. The chamber contains lubes for several charges of powder and ball; it may he made to contain from G to 10. In cocking the gun to shoot, the chamber revolves on an axis, and brings, in succession, every tube in the chamber' in line w i;h that of the barrel; and when discharged, the act of cocking brings the next tube into position, until all are discharged. A!i tubes may be re-charged as quickly as a single gun of the ordinary structure. This new implement of war has been shown to the President, the Secretary of War, and the Navy, many cfiieers of both the army and navy, and is considered the most efficient instrument of the kind, ever invented. We made an experiment with the rided pistol, and found it as sure in filing, and accurate to Ihe aim,
is the best of the common construction, i
We are informed that Mr. Colt has al j rcadv obtained a charter from the New
Jersey Legislature, and is about to or
ganize a joint sloek company, with a
capital of $300,000, for the purpose of
manufactunr g rules and pistols, for pn vale use, and that in a few months his
