RISING SUiV:
SATURDAY
MAKCII 19, ISM.
C-The reader will find under the Congressional head, in to-d;ijs paper, a sketch of thc principal business transacted during the present session of Congress.
fcMessrs. Tipto, Hendricks and 1.ae, of this State, and Col. Joh-sso of Kentucky, and Mr. Klmvos of Ohio, will picas accept our thanks for sundry Congressional Documents. We shell be gratified with a continuance of their favor.
CO"e receive by "r Washington papers that the Judiciary Committees in both Ilou'es of Concress, have reported favorably to the claim of Ohio, in respect to the disputed boundary between that State and the Territory of Michienn. This is as it should be; and we hope Congress may coincide with the views of the reports. CtTWe fe told that there is no truth in the statement published last week in reprd to the rejection of the noruin.ition of Judsre Holmas by the Senate of the United States. We are informed that the nomination will, in allprobnl ility, be confirmed.
THE COUNTY III II.DINOS. The County Commissioner;, at their tsion last week, went to Wilu-.ins-ton, examined the new Court House and Jail, found them fii.Mird according to their instructions, and accepted thcm, and released the Building ConmisMoneri and the citizen? of VVilmii-pton from their bonds, so that Wilmington, according to the true letter and spirit of the law providing for a re-location of our County Seat, is now the Seat of Justice of Dearborn county. Whether or not it w as the t'.uty of the Commissioners to order the removal of the Records, we are not prepared to say ; but certain it is thai the n location act will bear but one construction ; and that construction is, that so soon as the Commissioner accepted vf the public bui'idings, Wilmington was the S. at of Justice. IVe have bad the pleasure of a personal examirition of the public buildings, aiid so far as our knowledge of mechanical skill extends, we should r.ot hesitate to say that they are fiaithed in a manner which ouht, and no doubt will, be satisfactory to the people of the county. The plan, of the Court room we presume will not please all; it ic, however, finished according to the instructions of the County Commissioners. Some of the Lawrence-burghers, we are told, lire still of the opinion that the Courts will never be removed from that place. We cannot for the life of us, see what loop they now hang their hopes upon, as nothing but the destruction
of the Court House at Wilmington, can, in our
opinion, prevent the text Circuit Court from leirg held there.
knoun. We are also told that Mr. tiregg is the editor, and that he receives two dollars per day or week, for writing for the paper. Xow, if we are to be drawn into a controversy with the Palladium, we w ant to know in the first place who is its Editor. We care not who he i, but let us be certain of the rijht one. If it is Mr. Gregg, we have no objections. If it be William A.Cameron, we want nothing to dowithbira we kuow enough about him already. If the paper is edited by a company of lawyers and doctors, we shall have nothing to say to them. We however, have no fears of the etablishment-those who know w here the Palladium is printed, know that it can do no harm.
fr-A branch of the Bank of Kentucky has been established at Covington, opposite Cincinnati. Richard Southgate, Esq. is President, and Philip S. Bush, Esq. is Cashier. It will commence operations immediately. C-A bill has passed the Senate of Ohio making it penal to receive or circulate in that State, any notes or bills of the Bank of the U. States, recently chartered by the Legislature of Pennsylvania. Virginia. The Legislature of Virginia recently passed resolutions instructing their Senators in Congress to vote for Mr. Denton's expunging resolutions, and requested the Governor to transmit them to the senators. This the Governor refused to do, on the ground that it was an extra official duty. Doth Houses of the Legislature then instructed their presiding officers to forwnrd the

have declared war against Texas, and will second the operations of Gen. Santa Anna, who is now advancing on St. Antonio at the head of 5000 men. and 25 pieces of artillery. The Indian force, it is said, amounts to 10.000 warriors, and 5.000 cavalry. This report accords perfectly well with the departure of the Cih regiment of U.
