The returns required by that law, to this office have not been made except by the School Commissioners of the following coun ties, viz. Randolph Bartholomew, Boon Hamilton, Morgan, Dwi born, Fayette, Jefferson, Lawrence, Johnson, Shelby, Hendriks, Switzerland, Orange, War ren. Putnam. Orcen, Montgnrmrv.
Franklin, Parke, Rush, and 0vc. This subject may soon be sufficiently important for a penalty to be prescribed, in case the School Commissioners fail to do their duty. Some regulations
will also be necessary for disposing of the lands forfeited to the school lund. To secure regularity in the title and mode of doing business, it is respectfully recommended that the School Commissioners be required to obtain judgment in the Courts for the amounts chargeable, that the lands forfeited he ' sold as on judgment in other cases, reserving a right to the former owner lor the balance over all charges. vuenc:ver he should call for if. The Paris Academy of Medicine lately reported the case of a man who died ia Jul) last in that city. delirious, and in the right ventricle of whose heart w is found imbedded a needle, which extended into the cavity. No trace of a cicatrix by which the needle might have entered, could be discovered on the exterior of the body, lie had been suffering for some months from shivering and pain in the side.
