H. P. July 7th, 1868. I9tf Schencka Pulmonic Syrnp, Seaweed Tonic and Mandrake Pills, will enre Consumption, Liver Complaint and Dyspepsia, if taken according to the directions. They are all three to be taken at the feame tine. They cleanse the stomach, relax the liver, and put it to work, then the appetite becomes R"od; the food digests and makes good blood; tbe patient begins to grow in flesh; .the diseas ed matter ripens in the lungs, and the patient outgrows the disease and gets well. This is the only way to cure Consumption. To these three medicines, Dr. J. - IT. Sehenck, oi Philadelphia, owes hia nnrivaled success in the tre f 1ment of Pulmonary Consumption. The : Pulmonic Syrnp ripen tbe morbid matter in the lungs, natnr throws it off by an eaay expectoration, for when tbe phlegm or matter ia ripe a alight cough will throw it off, and the patient has rest and the lungs begin to heal. To do this, the Seaweed Tonic and Mandrake Pilla must be freely used to cleanse the stomach and liver. so that the Pulmonic Syrup and tbe food will make good blood. . Sehenck 'a Mandrake Pills act upon the liver, re moving all obstructions, relax the ducta of the gall bladder, the bilo starts freely and the liver is aooa relieved; the stoola will show what the Pills can do. Nothing has ever been inveuteJ except calomel (a deadly poison whieh is very dangerous to use unless with great care) that will unlock tbe gall bladder and start the secretions of the liver like Schenck'a Mandrake's Pills. Liver Complaint is one of the moat Drominent rin ses of consumption. - Schenck'a Seaweed Tonic is a gentle stimulant and alterative, and the alkali in the Seaweed, which this preparation is made of, assists the atomach to throw out the gastric juice to dissolve the food with the Pulmonic Syrup, and it is made into good blood with out fermentation in tbe atomach. ?. The great reason why physicians do not cure Con sumption is, they try to do too much; they give medicine to stop the coughs, to stop chills, to stop night sweats, hectic fever, and by ao doing they deranza the whole digestive powers, locking up the secretions, and eventually the patient sinks and dies. j Dr. Sehenck, in bis treatment, d-.es not trr to aton a cough, night sweats, chills or fever. Remove the cause, and they will all atop of their own accord. No one can be cured of Consumption. Liver Com plaint, Dyspepsia, Catarrh, Canker, Ulcerated Throat unless the liver and stomach are made healthy. - ii a person Has consumption, of course the lungs. in so one way, are diseased, either tubercles, abscess es, bronchial irritation, pleura adhesion, or the lungs are a mass of inflamation and fast decaying. In such casea what must be done? It is not only the lungs that are wasting, but it is the whole body. The stomach and liver, have lost their power to make blood out of food. Now, the only chance is to take Dr. Schenck'a three medicines, which will bring np a tone to the stomach, the patient will begin to want food, it will digest easily and make good blood; then the patient begins to gain in flesh, and. as soon aa the body begins to grow, the lungs commence to heal up ua tne patient gets fleshy and well. Thia i, ft,only way to cure Consumption. When theie is no lung disease, and onW t.;-. Complaint and Dyspepsia, Schenck'a Seir4 T; and Mandrake Pills are aufficient, without the Pulmonic syrup. Take tsje Mandrake Pills freely in all bilhona complaints aa they are perfectly harmless. I r UT-,. Sehenck, who has enioved 1111111 tArrunianr1 health for many years past, and now weiirha tin pounds, was wasted away to a mere akeleton in the very last staga of Pulmonary Consumption, his Dhv. sioians having pronounced hia case hopeless and abandoned him to hia fate. PLAIN TALK
To Invalids and the Public: Dr. A. M. French, formerly of New Yorb City, respectfully announces that he has resum- ' ed practice, and will, for many years to come. I yisit monthly nearly all of the principal cities of the Union at stated periods for treatment oi all forms of chronic disease. Having just re turned from Europe where be has for . the past TEN tears been devoting hia time exclusively to the treatment of patients in the principal hospitals in France, England and Germany, he I can assure the afflicted that in all chronic dis ; eases he can safely be relied upon. Among the chronic ailments which he cures he would mention the following. All diseases of the Liver, usually called Liver Complaint, all affections of the Lungs, such as Consuinption,lJoaghs, Bronchitis, Loss of Voice, bore ihroat, Asthma, etc., etc ; Dyspepsia, or Sourness of the Stomach after meals, Spitting up of Food, Belching of Wind, Constipation o( the Dowels, Sick Headache, Neuralgia in every form, all affections of the Kidneys and Bladder, Rheumatism, Dropsies. Palpitation of the Heart, Epilepsy or Fits, Scrofula, all diseases of the Blood, Eruptions. Salt Rheum. Genei -1 Debili ty, Nervousness, and alldiseases peculiar to the Female system. Having, as above stated, made all the above and their kindred complaints along lile study, and having seen, personally examined and treated successfully hundreds ot cases afflicsed with each variety of the.e diseases, Dr. French feels confident that in offering his services to the af flicted world in this way, he ts simply acting in the line of duty. He has no desire to be anything less titan strictly honorable with all who may seek his aid, and will therefore still adhere to the rule he adopted in early life, never to flatter the sick and inspire hopes of recov. ery, unless the case admits of no doubt in that respect. Many cases being isccrable, and as he does not wish to pat any of this class to expense, he has de vised a, way in, which bis opinion may be obtained free of charge. The par Cad of - VVk . W may tn.,n& of ticulars in regard to this will be given under the Waste of Time." All persons who consulting Dr. French, should read this whole column before calling on him personally, or making np their minds what is best for them to do. The sick are so often dis appointed in their search for means of relief so often nattered by the dishonest and inspired with hopes that were never realized that it is not a matter of wonder that they have in many instances grown sick at heart and yielded to despair. Dr. French will deal - honorably with all, believing that always to be the best policy. His fees for treatment will be reasonable, and not be required from any patient until a cure is effected, and his charge for medicines will 1 only'what they cost him: His appointmen t stress ioiiows: KKW YORK CITY, the first dar of each moniu. The omission is unimportant, however, as all patientit are required to write him a letter before coming to see him and in his reply the name ol the Hotel will be given. See the article below headed "Waste of Time.' Dr. P.'s object in making the foreeoimr visits is to afford all parsons a less expensive means ' of treatment than if they vrew compelled to travel many hundreds of miles for that purpose. WASTE OF TIME. There are only about thbek-fifths of the cases of chronic disease that admit of positivi ahd radical cube. One-half of the incurables can be, under favorable circumstances, much nenenttea, ana the other half only palliated.-. I am willing to treat any case and do what 1 can for it, but it so happens that a very largt number ot those patients whose complaints cannot be wholly eradicated do not wish to under go treatment. Now as my time at each point 1 visit is all needed in examining and treating the cdbabxs cases it would be a waste of time for me to bestow my attention upon those whom 1 i cannot cure.
To avoid this, and save the patient all unnecessary trouble and expense, all are required to write to me and await my answer before calling on meat any of the places I visit. Each per son so doing must answer tbe following questions: What is your height, weight and age? How long have you been sick? Are you ol temperate habits? What do physicians call your disease? Are your bowels usually costivo or otherwise? Is your complaint hereditary that is, have any other members of your family so far back aa you can trace, been afflicted in the same manner as you? Has emaciation (loss of flesh) been gradually going on since you be. came aware of your present complaint? What is the condition of your mind? Are your thoughts and emotions generally of a dreary nature or the contrary? Have you pains of any kindJ Jf so, giva their location, character and degree of intensity as nearly as you can' and the length of time you have had them. A plain answer to the foregoing questions will enable me to determine at once whether the case is a curable one. . . All letters may be addressed to CLEVR LAND, O.. as I have an agent there who will forward letters regularly by express, wherevei I may be, so that they will .never .be delayed beyond a day dr two ott any occasion.::. U As soon as a letter comes to hand, I will take the case into consideration, and in my r. ply give my opinion of it and the name of tho Hotel at which I may be found in the city near, est you which I visit.
