Tub Constitutional Convention of Mississippi has already done enough to earn for it the lasting hatred of the Democratic party. It has adopted as a part of the new Constitution, a prnvifion hat the General Assembly of the S;ae shall never assume or have power to asFunie or pay any obligation or debt contracted in aid of the rebellion ; another, that it shall have no power to make compensation for emancipated slaves, aod still another, that it shall not claim from the United States any cumpeasaiion for slaves emancipated. This marks the difference between Republican and Democratic reconstruction Maryli nd and Kentucky are named Democratic States, and enjoy the peculiar blessing called "a white man's government," which, in the partisan jargon of the day, mean; a government controlled by men lately in rebellion ap:nat the United States; and Maryland and Kentucky demand that the United States shall I ay them in cash for their slaves emancipated. The Mississippi Convention, in the elegant larguaue of Democratic journals, is "'black and tan. ' It is not to be expected, therefore, that it can reach the sublime altitude of the gloved aristocracy of Democratic Maryland and Kentucky, whose seedy nobility to besiege the floors of Congress and clamor lor the price of their former bondmen. The Mississippi Radicals evidently know nothing of the principles of latter-day Democracy. Firm. The Republican County Convention in Indianapolis, on Saturday week, resolved that the bonds and other obligations of the General Government, which do not expressly stipulate for payment in coin on their face, should be paid in legal money. Alexander B.
