Looking upon art men aa children of one common Father and believing that Christ died for ail, we know no distinction in rank or poaition, but make equally welcome the poor and the rich, the friendless and the stranger, and welcome a Scholar if tut for one day, and whether dressed well or poorly. . The whole number of Scholars now enrolled is 408, Of these many are irregular and uncertain in their attendance. Nearly 300 families are represented in the Behoof. " The, children live in a'J parts of the City and vicmitr. ' Some of them come one or two miles to the school. Manr of - the an rarelr fail to attend. About 212 are reliable and prompt. More than half of the children are in the " Infant Classes," and taught orally. One adult alasa of six has been well sustained and another already commenced. The eonduot of the scholars has been generally good, and they show a commendable improvement is their studies. There are 26 officers aad teachers engaged, besides 3 or 4 general asaistssts. They have all been prompt and faithful, most of them never being absent except for snSeient reason. Teachers generally visit the scholars at their homes. Teachers meetings have been frequently held and have been interesting and useful those engaged feeling the work an important one and desiring all the aid possible in earrvtng it on. We have distributed among th children many hundreds of the Child's Paper, religious tracts; giving one at each session of the school. Many of the scholars have also been supplied with Bibles as rewards. Some of the scholars have been very efficient in getting other children into the school. One little girl waa the moans of getting fifteen scholars, another eight, one boy nine, and many others one or more. , We have recently introduced into the general exercises, to some extent, the nse of the blackboard and ill us tire teaching, bv the aid of maps, picture and ob jects. We find it adds to the interest and intend to prosecute it further tiereatter. ' On the 25th of Julv our excursion was taken with the children to Florence Station, on the E. A R. R. R. After their return ample7 refreshments were provided for them at Starr. Hall. It was a pleasant occasion, and mnch enjoyed by both teachers and scholars. On Christmas Eve a festival was held the magic lantern exhibited !ne recitations and general exercises were had, and refreshments distributed. It was also a pleasant occasion to all those engaged. -. A mothers' meeting has been held in the week with an attendance rawing from ten to twenty-five, and from twenty to forty little girls whs have been learning to sew. Please send, with dispatch, twelve dozen Alleock's Porous Plasters. Our daily experience confirms their very superior excellence. At this moment of writing a man applies for one, who, by entanglement in the shaft of ma chinery, bad both hia legs broken, spine severely injured, and was for nearly a year entirely , helpless. This man found relief very soon by the application of a piaster to his spine. He was aoou enabled to work, and now he labors ss well as ever. He would cheerfully pay $5 for a single Plaster if they could not be bad at a lower rate. I am surprised that surgeons do not make use of these perforated plasters, to the ex clusion of all others, as their flexibility and adhesive ness are greatly in advance of all other plasters with which I am acquainted ; while the perforations, pecu- , liar to them rendered them greatly superior to all others for ordinary surgical uses. Try ft. - A FEW REASONS, WHY THE I AMERICAN WATCH IS THE BEST. , It is made on tbe best principle" while tbe foreign watch is generally made on no principle at all. The foreign watch is mostly made by women and boys, by hand. While their tabor is cheap, their work is dear at any price. Such watches are made without plan, ; and sold without guarantee. - They are irregular in construction, and irregular in motion. They are designed Only to aril, and they buying ia the party most thoroughly sold. Tbose wbo have kept "a nee rs," "lepines, and "Swiss fevers, in professed repair for a few years will appreciate tbe trutn of our statement. . THE PLAN OF THE AMERICA WATCH , - Instead of being made of several . hundred little pieces, screwed together, t!e body of the American Watch is formed of of SOLID PLATES. Ko jar interferes with the harmony of its working-, and no sudden shock can throw its machinery out of gear. In riding or any business pursuit, it ia all held together as firmly as a single iece of metal. It is just what all machinery should be 1st. ACCURATE, 2d. SIMPLE,' 3d. STP.OSO, 4th, ECONOMICAL. We not only secure cheapness by our system, but quality. We do not pretend that our Watch can be bought for less money than the foreign make bclievosv but that for its real value it is sold for one-half tbe price. OCR SOLDIER'S WATCH (named Wm. Ellery)is what its name indicates Solid, Substantial, and al wahs Reliable warranted to stand any a mo not of Marching, Riding or any fihing. Our next higher quality of Watch (named P. S Bartlett) is similar in Sise and general appearance, but has more jewels, and a more elaborate finish. OCR LADIES WATCH, recently brought out, is put up in s great variety of patterns, many of tbem of rare beauty and workmanship, is quite small, but warranted tolmep fame.'' r, r f X .. THE PBOOF of the' merits of our Watch may be found in tbe fact that we now employ over seven hundred workmen in our factories, and that we are still unable to supply tbe constantly increasing demand. Our three-quarter plate watch is thinner sod lighter than the others we have described. Its fine chronometer balance is delicately adjusted to correct the variation caused by change of temperature. These watchare the fraita ef the latest experiments in caToaosoetry, and are made by our best workmen, ia a separate department of our factory. For the 'finest time-keeping qualities they challenge comparison with the bes works of the most famous Enghsh aad Swiss makers R0BBI5S A APPLETOX, Agents for tbe American Watch Co. 182 Broadway, New York.
