RICHMOND, IND., DEC. 28th, 1865. OCR XKXT COStiRESMMkJI. Ws jndgs from wbst ws see, hear sad reed, that tbA I'nioD eotsrs of tfci District, are expecting- a warn and bitter eoote.t at thit nominatier mtom for a easxLdaU to aucceeJ Mr. Julian. We srs strangers in the District, and indeed, almost Stranjrers to civil life, having bat recently returned from tha Bold of war and blood 5 yet wa claim to have some common sense, aad to aaaart aa aa sximoo "that in anion than la strength." Without naion thare must ba dissension and weakness. Tha path to na ia clar. Cholera Cured a Easily Toothache. Dr. Poet, who ia rrpreeented aa a "nigh medical authority" ie .Vaw Vork, delivered a lecture at tha Medical College, in that city, on Friday evening last, IU alaima that cure ia easy "aa be tooth-ache." Ilia method of treatment, an ba explained it, ia briefly aa follows ; Tba patient ia Hret attacked by diarrhea, accompanied by extreme laesrtude. Ha ahould then Instantly go to bed, aad remain perfectly quiet for forty-eight hour, taking at least fifteen grains of calomel to drive tha infection promptly from the system. After thia has acted freely, a mild dose of iaudannm ahould be given to auothe the patient and prevent further intestinal action .lee should also be applied to tb eplnsl column. Dr. Poat claims that this treatment baa been applied in thousadsof rases, and never failed tii result ia the entire and rapid recovery of tha patient. It ia of tha very first importance, howaver, that the patient ahould uut abandon tha reclining posture, from the very commencement of the disease -until tha recovery. All the prominent medical men in the city are engaging themselves in tba atuJy of the cholera, not clinically, of course, at there have teen nc case yet in tba city. The) Cholera. It ia the opinion of a good many parsons that tha reported caaes of cholera in New York Imported by vaasel from Brest, were not of the real Asiatic type. There can be no doubt, however, that the disease ia at thia time in French West Indies, and consequently in proximity with our Southern coast. Its ravegea are aaid to ba severe in that quarter. This fact ahould induce greater caatioa, and leaj to continued aad thonigh hygienic treasures to repel its invasion. If it exists now under a tropical temperature, wa have reason to beleive it will be borne to New Orleans by the breath of spring, or the warmer winda of aunimer.. The disease ia on thia aide of the Atlantic, that ia eertain within a few hundred mileaof tha main land. The Saturday Evening Post.
