I am extremely sorry to find myself unknowingly the cause of a personal attack upon the character of a gentleman which I am assured Mr. Patterson is, such as appeared in the Richmond Palladium of the loth inst. In justice to myaelf and Mr. P. I will state that the attack was entirely unwarranted by the facts, and made upon the writer's own responsibility, Gsoaua W. Tatlob. Since typing the above, we have received the following letter for publication, written by a daughter of Mr Uoage.to one of her relations in the vicinity of tnja cj,r. I wish to make a statement of the facts in regard to the transfer of the body left in the Depot at Richmond, Saturday the 11th. On arriving at Richmond from Indianapolis, the train being behind time, the Conductor was informed or efforts was made to inform him of a body being there to transfer from the Indianapolis train, the fare being previously paid through to Xenia to come through that night, as arrangements were made her to receive the body ; but the Conductor ouly t ailed out to the person in cl.arge of tiie body and wit'i tlie 'riends of ttie deceased, to get aboard or he ould lw l'-ft. Please send, with d:I':itob, twelve dozen Allcock's Porous Plasters. j Our daily experience confirms their very superior ex cellence. At this moment of writing a man applies for one, who, by entanglement in the shaft of machinery, had both his legs broken, spine severely injured, and wss for nearly a year entirely helpless. This man found relief very soon by tbe application of a piaster to his spine. He was soou enabled to work, and now he labors as well as ever. He would cheerfully pay $6 for a single Plaster if they could not be had at a lower rate. I am surprised that surgeons de not make use of these perforated plasters, to the exclusion of all others, as their flexibility and adhesiveness are greatly in advance of all other plasters with which I am acquainted ; while the perforations peculiar to them rendered them greatly superior to all others for ordinary surgical uses. Knowing the plasters to be useful, I have no scruples that my senti Bicnts should be known. J. W. JOHNSON, M. T. Principal Agency, Hrandreth House, New York. Sold bv all Dealers in Medicines. CAITIOS FKO.H TIIE AMERICAN WATCH CO. It having come to our knowledge that imitations of tbe American Watch have been put upon the market in great number, calculated by their utter worthlessnesa to injure the reputation of our genuine products, to protect our own interests and the public from impoaition, we again publish tbe trade marks by which our Watcher may invariably be known. We manufacture four styles of Watches. Tbe Fnurr has t.'ie name "AUKKICAN WATCH CO., Waltham, Mass.,' eagrie i on tbe inside plate. Tiie Second has the name "APPLETON, TRACY A CO., Wahham, V,.- , engraved ou the inside plate. The Third has the name "P. S. RARLETT, Waltham, Mass.," engraved on the ttside plate. All the above styles have the name American Wnu-h Co. painted on the dial, and are warranteu in everv respect. The Foccth has the name "WM. ELI.EKY, liosfcm, Mass.," engrarud on the inside plate, and is not named on the dial. And the above described watches are made of various sizes, and are sold in gold or silver cases, as may l required. It ishardly possible for us to accurately describe the numerous imitations to which we have allude. They are usually inscribed with the names so nearly approaching our own as to escape tbe observation of the unaccustomed buyer. Some are represented as made by the "Union Watch Co., of Boston, Mass.," no such company existing. Some are named the "Soldier's Wratch," to be sold as our Fourth or Wm. Ellery style, usually known as the "Soldier's Watch." Others are named tbe Appleton Watch Co. ; " others tbe "P. S. BartLBT," instead ot our P. S. Harleit ; " besides many varieties named in such a manner as to convey the idea that they are the raritable productions of the American Watch Company. We also cautiou the public, and particularly soldiers, against buying certain articles chlid walches, so freely advertised in illustrated papers as "Army Watches," "Officers' Watcl es," "Magic Time Obaervers," "Arcana Watches," ic, the prices of which are stated to be from seven to sixteen dollars. A good watch, ia these times, cannot be afforded for any such money. A little attention on the part of buyers will protect them from gross imposition. RALLY, RALLY!
