The first was entitled "American Politics", though a large portion of it was devoted to a concise and interesting review of the progress of liberty and liberal institutions during tbe present century, especially in this country and Great Britain. In conclusion, he spoke of the relations existing between the two countries ; stating that in England there were two peoples, and, although the nobility could not very cordially be our friends, the working millions have stood by us, notwithstanding their sufferings, owing to the suspension of the cotton factories, and .tbe temptations of rebel emissaries. In (he present controversy, he hoped that nothing more serious than ink would le spilled. The second lecture was on " British Hale in India." Mr. Tuuxrox is well qualified to speak on this subject, having spent several years in India, and being there during the "Sepoy Rebellion." It having come to onr knowledge that imitations of the American Watch have been pat upon the market in great number, calculated by their utter worthlessi'ness to injure the reputation of our genuine products, to protect our own interests and the public from imposition, we again publish the trade marks by which onr Watches may invariably be known. We manufacture four styles of Watches. Tbe First has the name "AMERICAN WATCH CO., Waltham, Maaa.," engraved on the inside piste. The Secomo has the name "APPLETON, TRACY A CO., Waltham, UaaaV engraved on the inside plate. Tbe Tried has tbe name "P. S. BARLETT, Waltham, Mass.," engraved oa the inside plate. All the above styles have. the name American Watch Co. painted on the dial, and are warranted m every respect. The Fourth haa the name Wf ELLERY. Boston. Mass.," engraved oa the inside plate, and is not named on the dial. And the above described watches are made of varieos sizes, and are sold in gold or silver caaea, aa may be required. It ishardly possible for us to accurately describe tha numerous imitations to which we have alluded. Tbey are usually inscribed with the names o nearly approaching our own as to escape the observation of tha J unaccustomed buyer. Some are represented aa made j by tbe "Union Watch Co., of Boston, Mass.," no I such company existing. Some are named tha "Seldier'a Watch," to be sold a our Fourth or Wm. A good watch, in these times, cannot be afforded for any aach money. A little attention on the part of buyers win protect them from gross impoeiooo. BRANDRETH'S PILLS.
