At a meeting of W hitewater Lodge, No. 159, of Free and Accepted Mason, a committee was appointed to draft revolutions expressive of our feelings on the occasion of the death of our late Brother, Richard G. Bbabdoh. The following preamble and resolution ware reported and unanimously adopted, to-wit: .. Whereas, it has pleased Almighty God, to call trora labor on earth to rest in Heaven our dearly beloved brother R. G. Brandon, who departed this life May 4th, 1863; therefore " ' ' ' Reiolvtd, That as a Lodge we sincerely sympathize with the bereaved widow and daughter and other relations of the deceased. Resolved, That as becomes us we bow with submission to tbe will of Him who doeth all things well, and while we may properly lament his departure from sraonij us, let us accept the admonition, "be ye also ready." A stranger and his wife, were given employment a short lime agt, by oar kind friend Gitrdener Mendenhall, of Sylvian Height, and the ec-quel shows tbat ihey wre far from being angels. After staying about tbe house a few days. Gardener's fam ily missed silver spoons and various other articles, when the strangers' trunk was searched an J the missing articles found neatly packed therein. Gardener resolved to get rid of both of them ; but the man plead that his wife was alone guilty, and tht it he (Gardener) would advance her 93 to pay nor fare to Ohio, he would stay and work it out. This was agreed to, and the woman and trunk were pUced in a ""' 1 husband, and one of Mr. M's sons. were brought to the Dpot. To save young M. any further trouble in buying the ticket, ko., tbe husband of the woman proposed to take the 93 and make tbe purchase himself, whioh was acceded to; and he took it and entered the door leading to the ticket office, and vanished, leaving both trunk and woman on the hands of young friend Mendenhall. Not fancying to have care of tbe latter encumbrance longer, he informed her he'd keep the trunk until the 93 was returned, and she promised to send the money to redeem it as soon as she arri -ved at her home in Ohio. He left her at the Depot, but whether her husband returned and paid her passage, or what has become of these strangers, who came so near "rains tV friend Mendedhall, deponent further sayeth not.
