W The Delinquent LU haa delayed th publication of our paper beyond . ita usual l our this week, and crowded oat eevetml ar- ' tic.es intended for thia No. Taylor, Lectures at Si an Hall Tuesday night Ham. DarM KHjore. During the recent Preside: tial canvasa, the Repieeentatira in Congress from this District, labored incessantly and efficiently in the good cause. As a member of the National Republican Executive Committee, h spent several months in Washington City, conducting the correspondence, and performing a very large share ol the other duties of that position. He made the first Republican speech ever made in the Federal City, and fearlessly advocated the true principles of the party. He spoke in Maryland and elsewhere, as his services were demanded. He spent his time and his money liberally for the success of Mr. Lincoln. The Republicans of Indiana and of the nation, have appreciated and acknowledged his important services. He remained at his post until just in time to reach home before the election. While he was thus laboring we regretted to see an article in the Cincinnati Commercial, and only five days before the election copied into the Centeiville Republican, .j which it is declared that about tLe time of the Chicago Convention Mr. Kilgore "was busily engaged in denouncing the Iirjitillican party and trying to brtak down its organization." A more reckless and uncalled for jerversion of the truth was never made. We have never heard the slightest er rlence that Mr. Kilgore ever dencur.ee d the Republican party." Whoever the correspondent of the Commercial is, making the statement quoted above, must have done so from a low, mean and malignant hate a contemptible personal feeliog. We believe it is true that Mr. Kilgore was opposed to G. W. Julian, but we have yet to leain that to doubt the political integrity of one man, is to "de-' uounce the Republican party." .r , . . A . f Our object in this notice is not to seek a' controversy wiih an anonymous correspondcnt of a filibustering sheet, but to do justice j to a faithful, zealous and efficient laborer in ; the Republican cause. 1 1 , ; T ..
