The Republicans of Wayne Township will hold a meeting on Friday evening of next week, the 27th inst. A tall Liberty pole will be raised. The Wide Awakes will be out in their uniforms and torches. Martial 01 Usic will enliven the occasion. Good . , .,, . , , a. .. -a speeches will be made by distinguish-! ed speakers who have promised posi- ! tively to be present due notice of. whom will be given in our next paper. We deem it unnecessary to appeal to our Republican friends to come out on that occasion. They will be here, and by their presence j and voices show their zeal for free- i dom and the election of honest "Old j , n . Abe" and Ilauilin. Come, there' will be room and all. accommodation for Thieves and Scoundrels. Several night last week were deroted to ihiering ' by -some person, unknown.' II. B. Tayne'. dwelling was entered by a ladder being pla-, oed again Pt Lis veranda, and the thief climbing into the window. Mr. P.' pew pantaloons and $30 in money was taken bis pocketbook, knife, ko., were deposited at the foot of the ladder. Asa Smith's room was entered 93,75 in money ani bis new pantaloons stolen. Jas. Elder's house was was also entered, and the thief made a raise out of Sam Elder's pockets of about SI 6; a breast pin was taken from the room of a young lady at Mr. Elder's, who was awakenrd by the noise made by tbe robber and gave the alarm, when the scamp decamped. Tbe Louse of Elwood Patterson was attempted to be entered, Mr. P. being absent, his wife, however, bearing the noise, raioed the alarm ot "fire!" and the thieves vamosed. Several otiicf houses in different parts of the city were visited, but the thieves were frightened away, by the inmates being either awake or persons passing along the side-walks. On Saturday niglil last, some scoundrels threw three or four large stones through tbe west windows of Mr. Havcrcoro's dwelling, on South Washington street. The lower sash of one of the windows was broken, together with three of the glass, and a stone, weighing about five pounds landed within six inches of the head of a babe laying in a crib by the side of tbe bed. Another stone came through a pane o( glass in the window next the door, with such force as to make a hole tbe size of the stone, cracking the glass slightly aronnd the edges where it went in this stone struck Mr. II. above the cap of the knee, whilst asleep in bed, cutting and bruisiug it, making him somewhat lame. Mr. II. does not know that Lo has an enemy in world, that would thus act for revenge, and tbe conclusion is that the parties concerned in the outrage were actuated by devilish rowdyism, induced by bad whisky. The same night, Jacob Gohner's bouse, Fosseckemper's house, and the German Lutheran Church on South Franklin street was stoned. Tbe Later had eight lights of glats broken in, and a young man wuo sleeps in the church under the stairs, cam ear being Lit by one of the stones. jCrOa Saturday afternoon last, Henry Mongarrs wife was robbed of uer pocket- j book coutaiumg sixty-two dollars in Dills one was a S2U bill, one $10, six $5's, and two Si's mostly Indiana bills. Mrs. M. ,. a a ..a bad ine money tn tier pocfcei ana was at tne , Depot when tbe train came in from the west at i o'clock, and sua thinks it was ta-. kea out of her pocket at that lime, in tbe orowd. If the thief ever had any bowels i of oompassion, and only inese Mr. Mongarr as this community generally know bim, to ba an honest man, poor, and who has found ibwaTbrdan of labor a bard road to travel, and lay up something (or a "rainy day," aad who haa, ia addition to his sirog-
glen to gain a comfortable living, ben s'rickeo with jwtlay. tbe camp would instantly refund that money to tbe old man, eod thus feel tbe glow of joy that Ibis act of restitution would thrill every nerve, pervade bis wbole being, and creep into his soul if be has one!
Accident Nkablt Fatal. On Satur day evening last the freight train on the Indiana Ontral Bailw&r. broke an axle just before reaching the bridge over Whitewater, going east. The engineer noticed some difficulty, and whistled down the brakes, but from some cause that was not done; when the train got over tbe bridge, the engineer reversed the engine and stopped, got off and looked for the impediment, but could not find it. On attempting to start the train, be failed; and then he found tbe breakage. Going back on the bridge, thirty nint ties were found to have been torn in two "smashed" the broken axle eery revolution of the wheel, coming in contact with a tie and cutting it through or tearing it up; in one instance four or five ties along side of each other were aevered in that way. Had the broken axle dropped down instead of going up, the rails must have been displaced pushed out, and the whole train thrown off the track into the valler distance of one hundred feet. The old adage of "a rniss is as good as a mile," is verified in this instance a fatal accident was barely misled. "A Card Mr. Davie in the last Pallidum says 1 am about to engage in the liquor business, a report manufactured under the influenci of his predominant passion tor injuring every one who does not view things in the fame light that he dues. I now assert that it is uot my present design, nor has it ever been at any time my intention to engage in that business. My friends wrll know that I have ag iin and again declared the same. I am aware that it is useless to contradict anything from that source which may be published against me, when the whole paper ran be used to misrepresent and defame my character. I will only add i th.it Mr. Davis should apply to himself the article he wrote a few months ago i.bout the -"J'- Hop.." As we intimate above, with one part of the "raid," we are well pleased, as it fully accords with art opinion we Lave long entained and advocated, and, coming irom the source it doe, we commend it the careful and st rious consideration of all the partners of tbe State of ludiana, engaged in tbe profitable business of manufacturing drunkards, whithersoever scattered throughout the State. We allude to the sensitiveness Bro. Hope manifests at bis rumored connection with the "infernal" liquor traffic, in strict accordance with the law. He very justly stjles it a slander, and had tee really originated the rumor, we'd cheerfully take the advice at the close of Lis denial. However, Le speaks our mind exactly, when he treats the bare imputation or hint of such a connection as slanderous. This exhalation is evolved by the action of aolax heat'or wet soil, aud rises with the watery vapor from t 1iile the tun is below the horiaon this vapor linerrt near Ihe earth's surface, and the virus is taken with it through the lungs into tbe blood. There it acta ns an irritating poison on the internal viscera and excreting organs of the botlv. The liver becomes torpid and fuils tu accrete not only tbia virus, bat aiso tbe bila from the bloorl. Both the vl us and the bile accumulate in the circulation, and produce violent constitutional disordir. The spleen, the kidnevs, and the stomach, sympathize with the liver, and become disordered also. Finally, the instinct of our organism, as if in an attempt to expol the notions infusion, concentrates the who!) blood of the txiiiv in the internal excretories to foros them to catt tt out. 1 he blood leaves the surface. An 1 nisiua to the central orrans with conrestive violence. This is the Chi IX. Hut in this effort it fails. Then tha 1- emu f..!lin, in which the blood leaves ths central organs and rushes to the surface, as if in another effort Ui expel the irritating poison through that other great excretory the skin. In this alao it fails, and tha sya tern abandons the attempt exhausted, waiting fur tha recover, of strength to repeat the hopeless effort another day. These are the tits or paroxysms of KEVza AMD Agi f. Such constitutional disorder will of course tin Jerniiiie the health if it is not removed. We have labored to find, and have found, an antidote, Ayer's Ague Cure, which nriitralizrs this malarious poison in the blowd, and stimulates the liver to expel it from the body. As it should, so it does cwr this afflicting disorder witb pcrfirt rertainty. And it does more, or rather does vht is of more service to those subject to this infection. Jf taken in reason it expels it from the system as it ia absorbed, and thus keeps thoae who use it free from its attac ks ; keep the system in health although exposed to the disease. Consequently it not Only cures, but protects from, the great variety of affections which ara induced by this malignant influence, such as Remittent Vever, Chill Fever, Dumb, or Masked Ague, Periodical Headache, or Bilious Headache, Bilious fevers, NeuI ajgia, Rheumatism, Gout, Blindness. Toothache, Earache. Catarrh, Asthma, Palpitations, Painful Affections rf the hpleen, Hysterics, Colic, Paralysis, and Painful Affections of tbe Stomach and Bowels, all of which when arising from this cause, will be found to mmutae more or l-s the intermittent type. This "AauB Cvitr: " removes the cause of these derangements, and, cures the disease. This it accomplishes by stimulating the exeretoriaw to expel the virus from the system; and these organs by degrees become habited to do this their office of their own accord, llenea arises what we terra tteclimatatian, time may accomplish the same end, but often life is not long enough, or is sacrificed in the attempt, while this Aoi l C'ckb " doea it at once, and with safety. We have great reason to believe this is a surer as well sa afer remedy for the whole class of diseases which are -auaed by the mismaticiT.fectIon,than nr other which, has been discovered ; and it has still another important advantage tn the public, which is, that it it cheap as jvi.1! as good.
