Two mammoth wagon, contairtg the 4DngV,ttr of Rtbt-tlali, and little giila s h.t r present-, the of each Stale in the Union, were the iefcutiful tictuns that attracted all ejes jwtrticulftrly the little girls; but we haven't room and time th;s morning to aay more than G.-dlWaYm all; and that the OdJs made every thing een by having a pood time generally and apecUlly. In regard to Music, 1 4 only ueceasary for ua to aay thtt the Eaton Hud Mitcheil'a Corntt Band plated to

At night, the two Bands played together on Main street; as lue glorious music rolled Heavenward, we cast our eyes aloft and d atincliy taw the man in the moon smile and give an approving nod, and the myriads of rtart twinke with joy! that's so. The Pearl-at., and German M. E. Sunday School firmed in the procession and marched to the Fair Grounds limy m de an interesting appearance, with their fine and appropriate banners. The childien, teachers and old folk, all enjoyed the intellectual and pic nicinal feaett prepared for the occasion, and then left for their homes well satisfied. Take ii altogether, 'twas a satisfactory Celebration. Peterson's Magazine for August has already come to hand in advance of its cotemporaries. It is beautifully embellished with steel and other engravings. Subscribe for it. &fTho Democracy of the Tenth Congressional District have nominated P. M. llenkle as their candidate for Congress. W. Mitchell is the Republican nominee. - i n ss m jg m swaw-a- " tWOvt friend M. C. Boyer has removed his grocery store to llillaboro' in this county, where he is now engaged in business, nd we learn most successfully. We commend him to our friends there as a gentleman who may be relied upon as a fair and honorable dealer. JHrDugdale's ice cream parlor is crowded every evening with ladies and gentlemen, enjoying his rich, luscious cream and other cooling beverages. His establishment is a few doors east of the Huntington House. JB6BBowell's Daguertean Rooms are on Main west of Frot.t ttreet, wl ee he is prepared to furnish his admirable pictures to all who may desire them. He has had great exirienoe, and invites a comparison of hie pictures with any and all other artists. m m w Wtaca Duty Call tl our to Obey. Hall or No. 3 Firs Company. At the regular meeting of No. 3 Fire Co., held 7ih mo., 4th, 1860, the following motion, after being slated, was unanimously adopted: That a vote of thanks ba and is hereby tendered to the parties who, at the late tire at Babcock's Factory so generously presented this Company with $10. By order of the Company, Samuel Bellis, Sec'y. First Polk and Banker. The workmen in tho Carriage establishment of our neighbor Lippincott, have raised a tall pole on the roof of their Shop, and thrown out a beautiful banner inscribed with the glorious names of LINCOLN AND ILVMLIN glorious because they are the representatives of the great principles of Freedom and of Free Labjr. A splendid National Flag "the broad stripes and bright stars' also floats with the other banner of freedom. We commend our friends for their patriotic real in behalf of honest old Abe and his worthy associate Hamlin. ———<>——— FIRE.—On Saturday last, the Stave Drying House attached to the Steam Barrel Establishment of Messrs. BABCOCK & Co., was discovered to be on fire. 'Twas packed full of staves, and the fire was very hard to get at in consequence, hence the end and part of the side of the building had to be cut away and torn down. The firemen and "masheen" were promptly on the ground, and by their exertions about half the Staves were saved. An alarm of fire occurred last night—'twas found to be a false one: a bon-fire lighted by some of the patriotic boys near the depot.— Some one suggested that our old friend Dan'l Reid, was burning his Douglas ratifying tar all alone by himself; but that, too, was found to be not so. That barrel is yet safe in his cellar, where we suppose it will <tarry> yet a little while. ———<>——— CwThere were tome reiy lich eeo"S in the late Democratic Convention of Michigan, which nominated a reputed Beckinredoe man for Governor. A spirited discussion roa over a resolution indorsing the present Democratic AdrainUtratioa. which was fi nI!y declared to rw voted down. la the couise of this deba'e. Mr. "A. T. Murry of Wayne said that Dongla was the reptile that had caused all the trouble in the party. Douglas had pitched into Buchanau without r:aon. and he considered, him no more fit for President thnm that other mrch traitor Benedict Arnold." .
