Sugar. The grinding season on the plan- ' ation of Mrs. A. E. Flint, Rapides parish. Louisiana, was concluded a few days since. The editor of the Alexandria American states his belief that the crop made upon her plantation is the largest ever made in Louisiana, consisting of upwards of eighteen hundred hogsheads of sugar, four thousand barrels of molasses, and four hundred bales of cotton. The Great " Western Combination" The uni1rsi(tni d having; for years been studying the wants ot the farmer, and haria.s; heard all the olijso lions that ..an possii ly lie urged nicainst the ordiuary style of Flows, hare used every exeriiuu to overcome said difficulties, aod h.ve nt lat tieeo regarded for their trouble by the discovery of ttielr Great Western ComMn.itlon Plow which being maile or Steel or Omt Iron, or of th two materials comhlned, is -ll a.la te1 to all kin.ls of land, and 'Us peculiar shape (ur lihtnas of draught and pulverising the grouud makes U lu all respects superior to all other plows. The following are a portion of Its advantages over tha common steel plow : 1st. It is so constructed tht auy part of It can herenowed at any lime without the (rouble of taking the plow to the shop, as the mould bo mis, shears and land sides ot one sisa plow are all made to the same pattern, so that the ITaruer has only to s,-nd the number of his plow to get any part he may want to renew. yd. I he lilousole ami sianuaru urn can in ue piece,, together with an indea for the purpose of changing the land from a two to a three horse plow, making itas perfect for the one as the other by simply loosening two bolts In the ; beam. 3d. The mould boards and shears are made of either i ateel or cast Iron, so that a m in can have his plow with either steel mould and cast shear, or cast mould and steel shear, or by having extra pieces (whii h can be obtalne i at a small expense.) he cn ch inge or reuew any part of I It without leaving the flidd. The shoe piece or bottom of the i laud side ia fast -ued on with two holts, and can be made ' of either steel or cast iron, aud can be lonewed at pleas 1 ureatavery small expense. 7 4th. the beam is so simply constructed that when ! broken or worn out, any farmer who has a hand axe and i drawing knlle.can replace it with a new one, or by send lug his order to the shop we can seud him one ready fitted to (be plow. With each OoaaiHATio Ptow we sell, we will give the: purchaser a steel and east Iron shear withous additional j charge, so that he may have an opportunity of lusting the I relutive qunlities or the two. and determining for himself ; which is tha cheapest lor him to use. Tlie shear being fas- j tened on with only one so t, can be taken off and put on ; with less than halt the work that the old style of bar shear j ean, and t'e steel snetrs can ne snar(ienei tr lain as easily as the old stvleand with much less danger of spoil ingtne run ot the plow, and when worn out a new one ean he mtrie for less thau half the price or t ie old style, anil east iron ahrars c m be furnished for suit cents each. making it much less .-xpensivo to ke-p It in goid working j order than the common bar shear plow. fljr-The above Plow took the Kirst I'remtum ($10) over '. all others, at the lnd. Mate fair, Oct. Into, for general purposes. We also received the First Prxmiums at the same Fair on the following implements, vis : Host One Horse Comblnatioii Plow, best Subsoil Plow, Best Two-IUrse liar- ' row, and Best Double Shovel Plow ! Ws would recommend all to give the Ureat Wotern Combination Plow i A trial, and If it does not work entirely satisfactory we will refund the money to the purchaser.
