No premm.r was , offered for this kind, but none was more deserving. It was fewect, firm, and a rich yellow cdor, put up with crushed sugar and saltpeter, in addition to the usual salt. As usual, the 1-n.Ko carried off the first premium from the Ohio, the contest being between (i.n. Orr d La-; porte, and Mr. Todd of Madison. Mr.Jo-j tophus Clark of Dearborn, exhibited the finest ( Eastern Hurre pair. j A few articles were on exhibition for which; no premium was offered, and the lbari de- j termined not to give premiums to miscellaneous articles, but appointed a committee to ; examine their merits. Of these were feather bonnets, muffs, &e., J well and tastefully made; table cloth of. creditable make, and good home made flannel, j But in this list was a shirt ami collar, made ! by a little girl, twelve years old, daughter of Doctor Brown, of Crawiordsville. So ex., cellent was the make in the stitching, hemming, and gathers, that had it bee made by one double her years, it would havej we'll ' deserved apremium. And yet her domestic training allows but two hours in the day to) such pursuits, showing how rapid an advance- j ment may be made in so early life, by an education which is calculated to fix the at-1 tention. In wet and cold weather the milk is less rich than in dry and warm, and on this account more cheese is obtained in cold than in warm, though not in thundery weather. The season has its effv-cts. The milk, in spring, is supposed to be the best for drinking, hence it would lie the best for calves; ia summer it is best suited for cheese; and iu autumn the butter keeping is better than that of summer the cows less frequently milked, give richerjmilk, and consequently more butter.
