Gentlemen, we take this ungenerous charge and, like the 'wine when it is red in the cup,' we dash it down. No, gentlemen, we love the cause of temperance and we love to advocate it, publicly and privately, both by precept and example. And now, we propose to meet our friend upon common ground to oppose a common enemy; although we may not see cause in every respect to adopt each other's peculiar uniform, or to act under each other's local colors. We cheerfully assume the responsibility of discharging our duty in this matter as pointed at by your correspondent in his closing remarks: We say, promptly aud rmphutically , come on, brethren ; we neither make, buy, sell, or use, as a beverage, any spirituous liquors, malt liquors, witie, or cider; nor even mineralwater, or lemonade.
