Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, Tnt a. tax of twenty cant on en"h one hundred d Hnr of the value of all property entered in the general In' for uiiiion , and a poll lux of fifty cents on each poll subject by Uw to taxation, thill be and i hereby authorised and directed to be levied, for the current year, one thousand eight hundred and forty-four; which lax hall he asesrd and collected agreeably lolnw. Thit one cent on the hundred dollars he levied as a f jo J with which to erect a lunatic asylum. Sec 2. That fifteen rents of the above rale on each one hundred dnilars valuation of property liable to taxation, ahull bo arid the irne is hr-rt.-bv directed to be eel apart and applied f r the redemption of outstanding treat-try notes. 9mc. 3. That fivo cents of the above rate on one hundred dollars vuluiuon of property luble to taxation, together with the poll t ix, shall he applicable to the ordinary expenses of the Mute government. Skc. 4. Tint the Treasurer of State be aoihcrized to apply any avatUtilo fond i-i the treasiry, nol otherwuo appropriated, for tho porp ose "I redeeming treasury notes or other liabilities of the stale. Sec. 5. That so much of the revised nt'jt;s enacted at the last session of the (jenernl Ass?rnbly exempts from taxation nil properly exempt from execution, be and the stm is hereby rein-a-led; and thut the property of eaeli widow und each revolutionary soldier of the amount of two hundred dollars be exempt frotn tuxition. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Stale of Indiana, That in nil cacs wheie any purchaser of school land fiis failed to pay tho annual instalment of interest duo thereon, and a forfeiture of the land has accrued lo the township by virtue of the publication of the revised lawsof 1S13, it shall be lawful for such purchaser to redeem his land si forfeited by pacing to the school commissioner the interrs't or:d penally thereon, according tu the stipulations of ati act entitled "An act to revise and amend an net incorporating congressional township.", and providing for public schools therein," approved February 17, IS.'JS, approved February IS 1 1. Skc. 2. Where any person shall have pai l the penalty lo prevent a forfeiture of his land in the one hundred and eight) -first eeciion of tho thirteenth chapter of the revised laws of 131-5, relating to congressional township.", it is hereby made the duty of the auditor and school commissioner to refund to the purchaser the amount so paid in; Provided, the purchaser t-hall have previously complied with the requisitions of the firs! section of this act. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, That the sums retained in the county treasury under th rpention of the eighty first rind righU -?eeond sretiont of the fifteenth chapter shall not lie added to the sum to be distributed among thf townships at the semi-annual dividend, but shall bo retained for the ue and benrllt of tho township originally entitled to draw tho same, and in case the same is not drawn, to bo expended for s ho d purpoes within such township; nfirr having been retained six momh, it frhnll be re-lonred from year lo year as other school f inds are loaned by lw for the exclusive usa attd bentfit of said township. Sec. 2- If nny school di!r!ct sh.iH ful for rne year, after tho number of children therein of the proper oge shall be over twentv-ilve, to support a district school fr nt least three months, the urn to loaned with its interest shall not continue to be loaned with its interest shall not be divided among the other districts or persons, but hall continue to bo loaned out by the school commissioner, as provided for iu the ninety-seventh section of the fifteenth chapter of the revised statutes, until the itmii shall be demanded by uch district for building or purchasing a school house, or for tho support of a district school. Sec. 3. The etghly-lhird nnd ninety eighth sections of the fifteenth chapter of the revised tatutes be and the same are hereby repealed. Sec. 4.
