Explanation. With pleasure we give place to the following communication from Mr. Ilanna. He appears

evidently satisfied with the explanation he gives, j

that his Uojal Highness Prince Albert, iH be offered that distinguished honorary appointment. The Baltimore Sun states the total amount of

'taxable property in that city at $03,170,01', be-

that Mr. Ilanna could not find any person who

would give good money fur silver. Why did not Mr. Ilanna get money from he bank, instead of the brokers of Indianapolis? The 70 or 0 dollars of Ohio money spoken of, we opine, paid quite a number of witnesses', or else it all came to this part of the state. Mr. Ilanna acknowledges that he made an "operation ' to pay him for his trouble &.c. Ha received $2,000 in specie, which we suppose he sold for something like eight per cent. $100. Was Mr. Iliunaorthe Government emitted to tint money t We think (he Marshal had neither a legal or o moral right to it. If ho was compelled to borrow funds as he asserts, i.nd could not get any bolter monev than he did, why did he not sell his specio in Terra Haute save the expense of taking it to Indianapolis pay the interest on the money borrowed, and place iho balance to the credit f the Department? We think he should have done so. But on the contrary be boasts that he pocketed the money, and 4i not only pleated with his plaee, but proud of his patron" for permitting him to filch that which justly belongs to the Government. Tho patron of Mr. Ilanna, is not tho fiuncet man wo believe him to be, if ho permits a repetition of such "operations." It i a laxity of morals, which will not answer in a political go vcrnment where the people are the sovereigns. They have l long been down trodden by the recipients of Executive fivor, and Wto are proud of their patron! Proud of his patron indeed! tS)crphancy ! detested sycophancy ! Ax.troLi, Dec. 21, 1811. 1 IS C U L A K . To the patrons of the Western Lady's Magazine. Since issuing the first number of the Western Lady's Magazine a change has taken place, which will no doubt, be as pleasing to its patrons as its proprietor. A union has been effected between the Lady's Cabinet Magazine, published at Albany, New York, and our Magazine published here at Dayton. The work will now be published under the modified title of the Western Lady's Cabinet .Magazine, and issued simultaneously from Albany and Dayton, at the same low price of 1 Jj per annum. Thus wnilethe Western reader will receive eastern typogrrtph and engraving, he will not be necessitate .1 to go to the expense of the postage. The new Magazine has now a subscription of 20,000; with a contribution list including all the ablest writers in the Union. Each number will now appear regularly on the first of the month, adorned with a spirited engraving either steel plate or Mezzotiuto from tho hands of the most talented engravers; and every third number (quarterly) will contain a beautifully colored plate of the latest fashions. In a word, no expense or exertion will be spared to render the present Magazine equally as interesting and beautiful as any of i 19 contemporaries. The Magazine will still continue to bo tce.'lern in many of its features, and articles frtm western writers, we anti-
