ROBERTS, SANDS aad NELSON,
Having purchased the Establishment of the
FARMER AND GARDENER,
Successor to the Abebjcab Fabmeb, And being desirous to place it witbia the reach
of every agriculturist ia the United States, have coacluJed to reduce its $ubcriptin price from Jite dollar, to too dollar and a a Jf. per year, from aad
after the beginaiag of the next volume, wlucn wm commence in May next. It is now nearly eighteen years since the American Farmer was first established. Prior to its institution, there was no paper exclusively devoted to articulture ia the country, and it will aet be
arrogating any thing but what it deserves, to say, that, as it was the pioaeer in the good work, the labors of its former conductors must have been productive of much solid advantage to those for whoso benefit it was established, la continuing its publication, the present proprietors flatter themselves that it pages will be found to ceataia matter at once calculated to instruct the agricultural reader. So far as they are concerned, they are determined
to conduct it with industry, unflinching persever
ance, and with undivided atteation to the great and important purposes which called it into exis
tence. They feel certain that none or its patrons
ill have cause to complain, at the ead of their
subscription year, that they have left any effort un
essayed to render it worthy of their confidence
and support.
In reducing its subscription price, tney nave ventured upon an experiment full of risk and responsibility, and as they have done so under the
influence of motives which they must be permitted
to say should commend it to greatly increased sub-
scrintion as thev can alone Iook to iftar as me
source of their remuneration aad as in so doing
their labor will be much increased they appeal to its present patrons to aid them in giving it an
extended circulation. They are confident that
those who now honor them with their support, can
without personal inconvenience, in their own im
mediate neighborhoods, and among their personal
friends, by using their deserved influence, procure such an addition to their present list of subscribers, as will not only realize their fondest expectations, but place them under renewed obligations of interest aid gratitude, to render the Farmer and Oardtuir a welcome visitor to the fireside of every farmer and planter. The Farmer & Gardner will at once be a faithful repository of original communications from
practical agriculturists and horticulturists, and of
judicious selections from every other available
source. Foreign, and domestic agricultural, and scientific works, will be constantly resorted to,
for the purpose of furnishing materials calculated to advance the prosperity & happiness of the country, and of adding to the intelligence of the Amer
ican husbandman.
In fine, whatever concerns the business of the
farn, domestic animals of all kinas, newly invented implements of husbandry, those of approved
utility now in use, together with the principles and practice of agriculture, hortiuclture, andgrad-
ening generally, will be regularly and conscien
tiously noticed. I be price ol produce in this market, and the value of bank cotes will be weekly laid before its readers.
With a view of keeping their patrons advised of
all superior breeds of animals already introduced, or which may be hereafter- imported, the will
seize the earliest opportunity of translating all
such information to the colutnus of their journal.
