On Saturday Feb. 19, at 5 A. M. the po

lice having cognizance of the nefarious intentions of a person named Champion, sent his commissary Vassal and others, to his domicil, roe de .'hotel de Ville, No. 38, to make the necessary examinations. Champion exhibited much trepidation, but the agents of the

police proceeded immediately to their business. In an obscure corner of the garret they found an Infernal Machine, half com

pleted, which was Irom 7 to 3 inches in

width, four in depth, with three rows of

drawers, containing 3 distinct compartments. On the first were to be placed seven small cannon pistols, directed horizontally; and in the second, six, with an oblique direction to tbe right; and in the third, six with a tike direction left. The mode of using it, as explained by Champion was to erect a battery,

and communicate with it by cord, and whereby trains of powder were to be set off suc

respect the regularly and deiioerateiy ex

pressed opinions of more than two-thirds of

the members of hoth houses of Congress. I derive my information from an authentic source, and I give it to you with the assurance that it may be entirely relied upo. The Treasury Circular has been the subject of consideration at no less than three Cabinet Councils; and the result is, that Mr. Vak Burkn has determined that he will persist in

this pernicious policr, he will not repeal

nor rescind, nor modify the order, nor carry

into effect the provisions of the Currency

Bill a bill which was carried triumphantly

through both branches of Congress, and de

feated by the arbitrary will ot l'resident

Jackson. Messrs. Forstth, Poiksktt, and

DicxBRsoit were in favor ot the repeal and so was Levi Woodburi ! Do not wonder at

the approbation of the last mentioned per

sonage; for the u suing ot the Circular in July last was not his act; but that of Gen. Jace-

soN,of whom, as was the present Chiel Jus

instrument and tool. Mr. Kutlkr opposed

the repeal and so did Amos Kendall, for

you must know that those friends of the Ad
