GREENVILLE BUSINESS MEN SEEK SOLUTION OF HOUSE SHORTAGE GREENVILLE, Ohio, Feb. 9. The business men of Greenville are directly interested in the building of more houses and business rooms in this city. The house shortage of this city has been acute. It is almost impossible to rent a modern or semi-modern residence property in the city. There is not a vacant business room in the city, and at least two out-of-town con. corns are waiting for vacant rooms in order to establish branches in Greenil!e. The business men of thi city who are directly interested in constructing more homes are joining hands in an endeavor to build more buildings in Greenville. Has Narrow Escape Mrs. E. M. Hall had a narrow escape from death when she fell in front of an Ohio Electric freight car. The motorman applied the brakes and brought the car to a stop but an umbrella which Mrs. Hall was carrying was caught under the wheels of the traction car. Mrs. Hall "was assisted to the sidewalk and was able to go home. Sues for $700 Damages. H. D. Fourman has filed suit in common pleas court against Gustus Davis and Goldie Davis for $700 damares and five per cent interest from Feb. 6. 1923. The plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 15, 1922, he leased a 33 acre farm of the defendants for a period of one year, the time to expire on March 1, 1925. that he intended to make a truck farm on the place, and he pur chased horses, farming implements, eta, and plowed some of the ground. That in January, 1923, the farm was sold to Mrs. Amanda Amnion, who leased it to another party, and now Fourman has sued Mr. and Mrs. Davis for $700 damages. Celebrates Eigthy-Elghth Birthday, Mrs. Frances Hall, widow of John Hall, former sheriff of Darke county, celebrated her eighty-eighth birthday Tuesday. IN SUIT AT EATON EATON, Ohio, Feb. 9. Verdict for the defendants was rendered tfy a jury in Judge Risinger's common pleas court In the suit of the J. R. Watkins company, remedy concern, of Quincy, 111., against Andrew Wysong, G. F. Scheid and C. A. Stephens, the action involving an alleged account of $1,090.77. The case occupied the court three days and the jury reached a verdict at the end of two hours. The trial was completed with 11 jurors, after William Guckian, Gasper township farmer, was taken ill and after much testimony and evidence had been submitted and the litigants had agreed to proceed with the trial with the remaining six men and five women in the jury box. Scheid and Stephens were surety on a bond given by Wysong to the company and they became surety again when the bond was renewed. Defendants set up the claim that after they signed the second bond there had been inserted in the bond the fig ures $1,041.39, which represented an alleged balance Wysong .owed the company at the expiration of the first bond. Foreclosure of a chattel mortgage securing a note for $434 has been entered in common pleas court by William James against R. L. and E. J. Bierly. Settlement was effected in a common pleas court action brought by M. H. Markey against L. Risinger has reassigned the McClure ditch case for trial on Feb. 20 in common pieas court. The case was to have been heard some days ago, but a postponement was granted. McCoy and others against the county commissioners to prevent the commissioners proceeding with construction of a county ditch in Jackson township, petitioned for by J. A. McClure and others.
