GRAIN PRICES (Markets by Larason Bros. & Co., 212 Union National Bank Bnildine ) CHICAGO, Feb. 5. Influenced more by the foreign situation and by the movement from the country to primary markets than by the Immediate statistical position that prices moved into new ground on the present advance and held all of the gain. Both Liverpool and Winnepeg furnished examples of decided strength. Weather conditions over most part of the winter wheat belt were rather severe especially in the absence of snow protection. The visible supply did not appear, on account of interference with wire service by gulf storms, but gave promise of a fair increase. World's shipments and stocks on passage were also regarded as bearish. Cash wheat in all market3 was in very good demand at advances of from one to two cents. Corn continued its upward movement and closely approached the best prices of the season for the May, while July and Sept both recorded new highs and held a margin premium over the May. The price of hogs continues to be the bulls best argument. The feature in oats was selling of the May and buying of July. The market has given a wonderful exhibition of strength during the last two or three weeks when sentiment was excessively bearish and appears now to be headed for higher levels.
