TOWNSHIP FARMERS' INSTITUTE IS OPENED AT WEST MANCHESTER WEST MANCHESTER. Ohio, Jan. 13. The Monroe Township Farmers' Institute association today opened a 1v,o days' institute in the township central school building, near here. Speakers for the meeting are: Alfred Vivian, dean of the etate agricultural college; Mrs. F. M. Glasgow, Columbus; Charles Brand, Urbana. member of congress, and A. F. Hedges, Dayton, manager of the Miami Valley Milk Producers' association. . The institute is be'ing conducted independent of state financial aid. An agricultural and school exhibit is a feature of the meeting. Kibbons will be given winners. Awards will be made for the best 10 ears of white corn, best 1( ears of yellow corn, best single ear of any variety, best peck of wheat, best peck of oats, best peck of potatoes and best two quarts of clover seed. M. F. Morgan, Columbus, crop and soils specialist for southwestern Ohio, will judge the agricultural exhibit. Dean Vivian Speaks Dean Vivian spoke at the afternoon f-ession today on "When the Farmer Finds Himself." Mrs. Glasgow spoke at the opening session this morning on "Where Do We Go from Here?" and this afternoon on "Our Organized Activities." Hugh Christman gave an address of welcome this morning, and the Rev. H. S. Huey offered prayer. C. H. Moses, superintendent of Monroe schools, conducted a declamation contest, which was judged by Charles A. Wilt, yuperintendent of Darke county ; rhools. The first four grades of the school presented a musical play. The high school glee club furnished the musical portion of the program today. A session will be held this evening, at which Dean Vivian will present an illustrated lecture on "A Farmer's Trip Through the Orient." A sextet from the high school will sing. Hedges.
