A gay Yuletide season Is promised by the series of dances, dinners, and other social functions which are to be crowded into the days which intervene between Christmas and the new year. Clubs are to be hosts for a number of the most notable affaire and a number of important festivities are planned for members of the younger set. The Oral9 Melas club Is openfns the holiday week's celebrations with its fourth annual Christmas dance Monday evening in the ballroom of the Eagles club. Three hundred invita
tions have been issued for the affair
and it is anticipated as one of the
chief events of the week. Mollencup's
Society orchestra, which recently fin
ished an engagement at Washington,
D. C, will make its debut to local
audiences, playing . the program of
dances for this affair. Striking scenic
effects, , picturesque and colorful, are carried 'by' this orchestra. The com
mittee for' the dance is composed or Miss Josephine Hiatt, chairman; Mrs. Conrad Ottenfeld, Miss Gertrude Williams, Miss Birdice Norris, Miss Katherine Binkley and Miss Doris Puckett. Notable among the club functions will be" "the formal Christmas dance at the Country club Tuesday evening for members of the club and their out-of-town visitors. The Jesse Halberstadt orchestra will play the order of dances. Elaborate decorations in keeping with the Yuletide season will convert the .clubrooms into a magnificent setting for the occasion. .People's Dancing club will be neia Wednesday evening at the L O. O. F. hall. The . Evan Smith orchestra wiir play the order of dances. The largest affair of the entire winter season will be held at the Coliseum Thursday evening with the coming of the Oriole Terrace Gardens orchestra of Detroit and Chicago, which the Phi Delta Kappa fraternity is sponsoring. A concert will be held Irom 8:S0 to 9:30 o'clock, to which everyone will be admitted. The orchestra, a 12-piece aggregation, is one of the most famous dance orchestras of the midwest and its personnel is composed of individuals who are artists and composers in trTeir own right. The dance begins at 9:30 o'clock and continues until 1 o'clock. Admission to the dance will be by invitationonly. Several hundred invitations have been issued for the dance, Mr. and Mrs. II. L. Fifty children of the city are to be remembered by Santa Claus and entertained Sunday afternoon by the Delta Theta Tau sorority in the Phi Delta Kappa fraternity rooms. All members of the sorority are requested to be present at 2 o'clock.
The Dav Nursery is entertaining
with its annual Christmas party Tuesday afternoon for children who are vont at the nursery on week days
while their parents work. Mothers of the rhildren are invited to come with
them. Miss Elizabeth Kolp will have
charge of the entertainment. A number of her pupils will give a program
of music, dances, ana recitations. Gifts will be distributed among the little guests by Santa Claus. There will be a Christmas tree and other treats lor them. Invitations to the annual New Year's dance of the Elks' club will be issued to members and out-of-town guests. Music will be supplied by the Palais
Garden orchestra, one of the noted organizations' of its kind. There will be a cabaret entertainment from 10 to 12,
and dancing after that hour. A buffet
luncheon will be served in connection with the cabaret. New Year's day the Country club will be the scene of two parties. Chil
dren of members will be entertained informally in the afternoon. An infor
