WAYNE FARM BUREAU MEMBERSHIP DRIVE IS SET FOR JAN. 14

Farm bureau members of Wayne county Thursday were looking forward to an intensive membership campaign, which has been scheduled for the week of Jan. 14.

The board of directors of the bureau, meeting here, voted to pay the

county president $100 a year and the

secretary-treasurer $50 a year to cover

expenses.

It was the unanimous decision that

the membership campaign thi3 year

should be limited to one week. New

officers will be elected in each township under whose direction the cam

paign will be managed. A strong appeal lor giving a larger share of farm bureau activities to women, was voiced by Mrs. Lillian Pierce of Knightstown a farmer's' wife and women's district director for the farm federation. She pointed out community, social and educational activities as ones which the women handle better than the men done, emphasizing health projects particularly. The farm bureau directors voted to admit farm women on a $2.50 membership fee basis, provided another of the family already belongs, otherwise the fee is to be $5. Approbations of $25 were made for each of the men's five-acre corn clifc

and the boys one-acre corn club, the

$50 to be divided among winning corn growers according to recommendations of the executive committee.

PUBLIC ATTENTION GALLED TO MUSICIANS

The attention of Wayne county residents is called to the Indiana Masonic Home band and Girls orchestra, in a letter from Henry C. Chessman, formerly of this city and now an inmate in the Indiana Masonic home at Franklin. Mr. Chessman points out that the band and orchestra will be in Richmond on Tuesday, Dec. 26, that they are under the direction of a trained teacher, Mr. Bronaon, and that they have become very proficient. He expresses the desire that every Mason in Richmond and adjoining territory might hear them. Mr. Chessman's letter gives information as to the layout of the Masonic institution and relates some of the activities there. Most interesting is the

account of the birthday celebration

held on Nov. 5 in honor of Nettie Rainsford, first advocate of the founding of the Masonic home. This lady

is known as "Aunt Nettie by every

one at the home and is held in high

regard by all who know her.

In speaking of this celebration tne

letter said: "Them was a large tree on the lawn covered with different colored electric lights and the Boys' band

played and several addresses of congratulations were made, and on going into the dining room, there was a large cake with candles upon one for each year of "Aunt Nettie's' age. She was requested to blow out these candles with the assurance that for every candle she would blow out she

would receive a good wish from the residents of the Home and, of course, she blew them all cut. The cake was then cut up and every one at the Home was served with a piece of it."

"My cakes are 100 better since I bought that, can of Royal," writes one delighted user, and everywhere among your friends, neighbors, relatives you will hear similar commendations.
