Fifth street, after ce Is suspended from the police force today by Chief J. H. Woodward. This became known yesterday after a police squad, directed by Sergeant N. H. Haywood, raided Amos' hom and, found a large still, seven barrels of mash and a quantity of whisky. A man giving the name of Lee Rader, and living in the same house, was arrested. Impersonation Charged Charles Owens, 24. Greenville, will be given an opportunity in police court this morning to expla'n why he represented himself as a detective. Owens was taken into custody Tuesday night by Detectives Dunlevy anl Wilkins after compla'nts had reached headquarters that he represented himself as a police officer "doing special work." Mabel Allen, 19, of .67 Green street, who was arrested with him, will be turned over to the police-women's bureau. Valuations Decrease Decreased valuations in properties of transportation utilities are responsible for a great loss in the Montgomery county tax valuations for 1922, it was announced yesterday by County Auditor-elect Lutz.
According to the report now in the hands of State Auditor Joseph Tracy, the Montgomery county tax valuation for 1922 will be $9,650,450 less than 1921. The decrease in Dayton is $5,556,580. The current tax levy in the county for 1922 will be $8,440,997.36, a decrease of $243,753.20 under the 1921 k figures.
