RED OFFICIALS TRY FOR YOUNG PITCHERS; DAUBERTTO CONFER NEW YORK, Dep. 12. The Cincinnati baseball club, of ' the National league, has made an offer to trade Rube Dressier, and $25,000 for Tim McXamara, pitcher with the Boston Braves, or to give Dressier and $15,000 for Southpaw Cooney. George Grant, president of the Braves, declined both of." these offers, but finally agreed to alk it over with his manager, Fred Mitchell, when the latter should arrive Tuesday morning. Red officials know that Manager Mitchell is anxious to get hold of Dressier to make a first baseman out of him, fi'ling the place of Walter Holke, on whom wavers have been asked. President Herrmann, Treasurer Widrig and Manager Moran were the Red officials who brought up the subject with the Boston officials. President Herrmann stated after the conference with Grant, that he did not think that Mitchell would approve of the proposed offer, which is the last which the Red club will make to the Boston club. Captain Jake Daubert of the Redlegs, wired President Herrmann that he would be in New York Wednesday to arrange for his contract for next season. Inasmuch as the Red first sacker had a big season of it in 1922, the officials expect him to request a raise in salary, but hope that he will be reasonable in his demands. If he signs, he. will be the captain for pext season, inasmuch as his work was helpful to Manager Moran last season. HARVESTER BOWLING ON R.
