kACK in January, 1910, the Bankable cigar
business was founded in Flora Indiana, with only two assets, my $300 in cash, and a fixed determination to make thebest possible cigar for the money. First, I knew that men couldn't smoke fancy red and gold bands. So I put no band on Bankable. The cost of a Bankable goes into tobacco and hand workmanshipwhere it counts. I knew that if I was to realize my ambition to make the best cigar that its price could buy, I could not dissipate the energies of my plant among a large variety of shapes and sizes .and qualities. So I built the
common sense cigar, one size, one quality, one price Bankable. Smokers quickly discovered Bankable, and have given it a tremendous endorsement. More Bankables are sold in Indiana than any other 2 for 15c cigar. It takes 20,000,000 Bankables every year to satisfy the smokers who demand the best.
THE Bankable cigrar business has grown from the small' factories on the left until now it occupies the two great, modern factories at the right, in Frankfort and Lebanon. Every Bankable is strictly hand-made of the finest tobacco. No wonder Bankable la the leading 2-fbr-15c cigar in Indiana. Quality has made it so! There has not been a factory salesman selling Bankables for seven years. Bankables' don't need salesmen. They sell themselves. Our manufacturer's profit on each cigar is insignificant, we depend on volume The retailer makes an honest margin. You get most for your money. Distribution in Indiana is- efficiently and economically handled by the Indiana Gigar' Company, Indianapolis J L. N. Rottman, ' Terre Haute; G. E. Bursley Company, Fort Wayne; W, M. Shafor & Company, Frankfort, and Bufler Cigar Co., Liberty, Ind.
I started selling Bankables in the territory around Flora I could reach with a horse and buggy. Then I bought a motor truck and covered a' wider territory. Bigger territory meant a bigger -demand and my plant couldn't keep up with it. I built a larger factory at Frankfort. It was soon too small. I moved to another. It became too small. Finally I built the immense Frankfort plant which is our main factory and office today one of the finest cigar factories in alt the world. The demand for Bankables still grew. This year I have built another great factory at Lebanon. It has been in operation three months. In these two big, modern plants we have every facility for the careful blending of tobacco, and efficient, economical cigar making. , Employes' working conditions are ideal. Bankable cigars are rolled to the accompaniment of music, in big airy rooms, literally flooded with sunlight and fresh air. Step up to any cigar counter in Indiana and ask for the best ? for 15c cigar. You 'will find yourself parked immediately behind one of those good, clear, fragrant, hand-made Bankables. And for your 15c you will have another Bankable in your pocket
tor your next smoke.
