Sittings have been arranged for next January. Daughter of a. South Wales shipbroker, Misa Williams has had a pbe-
nominally successful career, and by general consent, she now figures In
the front rant of living Britisn portrait painters. Miss Williams first studied art at the Cardiff Technical college, and later at the Royal Academy of Arts, under Sir Arthur Cope, H. A- and George
Clausen, R. A. She subsequently stu
died for some years In Italy, France and Holland. Chief among her academy -successes
was the Gold Medal and Travelling
'Scholarship, the blue ribbon of the
Royal Academy of Arts, for a Historical
Inicture entitled "The City of Refuge.
tShe also secured the Creswlck prize,
a much coveted honor.

"The City of Refuge." "The Bapistry at San Marco, Venice," "In the shadow of the Palatine, Rome," "Ills Majesty King Kdwfcrd VII." "The Trtumph" and "The Devil's Daughter." Other paintings lncude "Her Majesty Queen Alexandra" (in Her Majesty's possession); "H. R. H. the Prince of Wales," (in the possession of Queen iMary), and "An Empire Tribute to the Flag of Stars," a large allegorical picture purchased by the late Captain Ira "B. Castell, commissioner of the American Red Cross for Wales during the war. This painting was exhibited at the Washington Red Cross headquarters, and at Denver, Colo, on Armistice Day. 192L It should be mentioned that Miss Williams has Just completed a large 'picture of the scene In Westminster i Abbey on the occasion, of the great 'Welsh service held there in 1918. This canvas, which measures IS feet by 10 eet, contains about 180 portralta of distinguished people.

The little sponsor is Miss Arn Holland. , daughter of Clifford Holland, chief engineer of the new Manhattan-to-New Jersey vehicle tube, as she appeared at. the launching of the first caisson of the tube.
