i MURRAY , "Conceit,' 'the latest Selznlck special Inow showing at the Murray theatre, the spectator Is provided -with a variety of action and scene that is decidedly enjoyable. The story is a spirited one of love, romance and adventure but r ;with the conventional conspicuous by ;its absence. The locale ranges from ;the brilliant home of a millionaire to I the bumble abode of a backwoods trap- : per. - But the setting of the trapper's home is provided with a natural background that is possessed of far greater grandeur than any man made dwelling. The characters range from society leaders to halfbred Indians and each is protrayed by players of ability and fame. Burton George directed and his work speaks for itself in the finished I picture on the screen. - . Special , mention must be made tf the excellent work done by W. B. ! Davidson, Hedda Hopper, Maurice Cos- ! tello and Petty Hilburn, who have the ! principal roles. The photography, settings and technical work are of the 'best. ', "Conceit" was made from the Ml'chael J. Phillips story, 'The Toll of I the Wilderness," and was produced under the direction of Burton George. MURRETTE "On irial for his life" is a phrase that carries with it a grim chill. Yet jmen have been placed on trial for j their life for deeds of violence comjmltted because of the demands of their code of honor. S This is the Situation In nrtife'h T
ert Lee Pitman is placed in "White Shoulders," the First National attraction with the lovely Katherine MacDonald as sta,r which has opened for a brief run at the Murrette theatre. This episode is one of the most gripping in this production, full of thrills and unexpected twists, not the least surprising of which is the verdict reached by the jury at this trial. Next to the brother the chief strain fails upon Virginia Pitman, played by Miss MacDonald. Her portrayal of the sister racked by the most vital emotions reaches sincere heights of
i niRtnonism. , This episode Is exceptionally well I Ftged, the big court room with its grave proceeding seems to be a reali- . ty. From this time the story of

who won his laurels in "The Child Thou Gavest Me." MURRAY VAUDEVILLE Topped with an act consisting of four young beauties, three of whom are accomplished in bare-foot dancing, and one In the handling of a violin, the Murray holiday bill is one of keen of the most elaborate settings seen here recently belong to the headlining offering. Practically the
entire program is one of dancing, but the brief appearances of the young violinist in tho opening scene and again in a solo number are well are well received. Spanish songs and
