NEBRASKA FATHER AND SOU WILL SIT III STATE ASSEMBLY
(By Associated Press) OMAHA, Neb, Not. 28. A father rd his son for the first time In Nebraska history will serve in the Nebraska legislature when it convenes at Lincoln next Jan. 2. Both were elected at the Nor. 7 election. The father, Lewis G. Yochum, of Ashland, will represent the thirtieth representative district in the lower house, while his son, Charles L. of Talmadge, will represent the fifth. Both are Democrats and practical farmers. Although the Republicans won a majority in both the upper and lower houses of the legislature, they were among the successful Democrats who will serve, despite the fact that it was their first venture in polities. Neither has thus far outlined any definite plans for legislation they will favor, although both have let it be known they will favor "any good pro gressive policies" which do not en tail too much expense to the state. Begins Farming. The elder Yochum, 58, was born at Morristown, Ohio. He came to Nebraska when 21, jfnd located at Brock, Neb., where he worked by the month until he accumulated enough to start farming. Later he moved to what is known as the Yont farm north of Brock, where he farmed extensively until 1916, when he moved to his present home in Ashland. He has a farm of 456 acres and two sets of improvements which have been built during the last six years and are modern in every respect. Charles Yochum was born at Brock ' in Nemaha county 33 years ago and at present lives on the Yont estate which he took over after his father moved to Ashland. He is a graduate of the Aubarn High School and the University of Nebraska in 1914, where he took an Arts and Science course. He, like his father, ia engaged in farming and livestock raising. He manages 400 acres of the Yont estate. AMUSEMENTS
WASHINGTON The fact that the private yacht of the prime minister of Great Britain would not be permitted to cruise around the world flying an American flag caused Director Alfred Green and Thomas Melghan infinite worry and forced the popular star to put forth his very best Irish blarney. It all happened this way: The action of the story, "The Man Who Saw Tomorrow," Mr. Meighan's current Paramount picture .which will be the feature at the Washington theatre Thanksgiving day, calls for several scenes aboard tha palatial yacht of a British statesman who subsequently becomes prime minister. One scene in the picture shows this yacht sailing out of the South Sea island harbor where it has been anchored. To secure a yacht of the size and calibre required considerable effort. However, it was finally obtained, and the scenes on deck were made. But when it came to hauling down the American flag and substituting a British pennant, the Irish captain of the yacht rebelled. Nor would he violate maratime ethics by sailing out of the harbor without any flag flying. It was only After Meighan had quot ed Brian Bora, John McCornMck and other noted Irish authorities that the captain was prevailed upon to weigh anchor and steam away from the cam. era without a flag flying. A cast of all star variety was assembled for "The Man Who Saw To A SIN TO LET HAIR m OUT 3 5c "Danderine" Saves Your Hair Ends Dandruff! Delightful Tonic Hurry! It's your duty. SUN-TELEGRAM, RICHMOND,
everyone who sees it on the screen Henry King, the director, has guided star and cast, headed by Mary Aid en and Mary Thurman, to a success which parallels "Tol'able David" in the estimation of the 'capacity audiences at the Murrette theatre. - MURRAY Dangerous camera exploits were demonstrated over and over again in the liming of "The Valley of Silent Men,"" a new Cosmopolitan picture from the novel of James Oliver Garwood, which is playing at the Murray theatre. The picture was filmed in the beart of the Canadian Rockies, in which Curwood laid the settings for hds story. The Cosmopolitan company made the trip to the mountains early in the springtime when snowslides and avalanches were common as Indian guides. Every bit of camera eauipment had to be packed on the backs of 'men of tas company. In many instances cameras were tied to ropes and let down from tops of mountain peaks, when difficult "shots" were made in the in terior of crevasses and caverns. Lew Cody plays opposite Miss Rubens 1n this excellent picture of life in the Canadian wilds. MURRAY VAUDEVILLE If you like a variety of pretty music and a bevy of charming girls you will enjoy the Seven Brown Girls, the headlining feature of the present Murray bill. Dave Harrl3' band last week was good: but the Seven Brown Girls are better. They enjoy this distincUon because they have a better class of selections; prettier costumes and set ting; more refined performance; more individual artists and total something more than an ordinary dance orchestra a clcss out of which Mr. Harris and his jazs boys had only a little more than raised themselves. Each of the young ladies in the pres ent act is accomplished, and proves it by the use of instruments ranging from the harp to the saxophone. The offering represents the most modern musical act, from the now fashionable long dresses worn by the personnel to the type of music played. Oliver and Lee bless their heartsare back again. It's sometimes very difficult1 to be sure jo. lady in an act ever was here before, but one"' just can't miss being sure about a fellow. The male member of this team is of the "boob'V variety with the kind of geniality that endures. He entertains with several excellent numbers on a banjo-uke, and generally makes his presence a happy event. Graceful dancing numbers with a pleasing setting contributes in making the Three Wilson Girls an unusually strong opening act. A song or two is offered and toe dancing featured.
