PITTENGER CANCELS TALK HERE ON DEC. 9 BOOMED FOR SPEAKER

Pittingcr, representative-elect and prominent farmer of Delaware county, will be unable to attend the Wayne county faan bureau meeting to be held In the Richmond high school auditoHum, Saturday night, Dec. 9, according to a letter just received by the local farm bureau of flee. Contrary to his desires, h!a Fpeakinsr assignments in Davies county for the whole of that week, will run too late to allow him to attend this mef tins as he wished to do. Mr. Pittenger is well remembered by" local farm bureau members on account of the many speeches he made in connection with the last year's farm bureau membership- campaign in Wayne county, and his friends have been especially interested in recent reports tiat he is a strong contender for the speakership of the state legislature. A "boom" started without

his knowledge by his friends, had assumed respectable proportions before he even heard of it, his first knowledge coming from an article in a Cincinnati .paper, of Sunday, Nov. 19. McCray Approves. Besides the strong farmer support which the Delaware man will have, on account of his present position of farm bureau director of this district, it is understood his candidacy has the approval, though it can not have the active support, of Governor McCray. while his membership in Chambers of Commerce and Kiwanis club In this state, and formerly in Ohio, where for many years he was an educator, and his enlightened ideas' , on . business questions, will assure favorable receition from the manufacturing interests. His lifelong experience in school work al50, his service as Instructor in Kent, 111., State Normal school, in Indiana university, of which he is a graduate, in Muncie high school, and in an Ohio college, have fitted him for dealing with legislative problems. The state house' of representatives , is composed of 52 Republican representatives and 48 Democrats. Mr Bttinger is a Republican, carrying his ounty by a two to one vote in the lucent election.
