RAT KILLERS FIND SERVICES HEEDED; RODENTS Oil RUN

The rat killing campaign in Richmond -will continue for another -week, J. R. Waterhouse, who is giving Iree poison baiting demonstrations, announces. Poison baits -will be laid for . any manufacturers or business men -whose plants are infested -with rats or mice and -who -wi&h the service. Eradication of the rodents from city buildings probably will be taken up by a 'conference of local health authorities next week. Aside from the danger resulting from carriage of disease germs of

typhus, bubonic plague, diphtheria, anthrax, glanders and numerous other

diseases, the additional economic

losses have aroused many citizens to

strong battle against rates and mice

Royal S. Copeland, health commissioner of New York is one of the most im

placable of these crusaders. Firms Using Service. Local firms, which have taken ad

vantage of the rat and mouse killing

campaign, are J. H. Menke, W. J. Engle, Thistlethwaite, Sixth and Main street store, Maher Packing company.

Zuttermel8ter Commission company,

Hoosier Feed company and the Hoos ier Department store.

The fact that the barium carbonate, while recommended as an effective

rodent poison by the department of

agriculture, is safe to handle and, even

in considerable quantity, is not dan

gerous to human beings, not even be

ing classed as a poisonous chemical, has given users more confidence in

adopting its use.

The baiting service may be secured

through the local health authorities or

by calling Mr. Waterhouse at the

Westcott hotel.
