Pearce, associate secretary of the World's Sunday School association, who has just returned from an eight months' tour of the world, will speak before a large audience at the East Main Street Friends church Wednesday evening. TEN MILLION WOMEN WORK FOR DRY LAW CONVENTION TOLD
(By Associated Pres) PHILADELPHIA, Pa, Nov. 18. Ten million women are working through various non-partisan organization to prevent enactment pf anti-prohibition legislation, Mrs. Frances P. Parks, corresponding secretary of the National W. C. T. U, said in her report today before the convention of the organization. Besides the W. C. T. U, these organizations include the Women's Trade Union League, the Mothers Congress, the Parent-Teacher association, the General Federation of Women's clubs, the Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters, according to Mrs. Parks. She added that the W. C. T. U. was seek ing in turn to further the aims of several of these organizations, and that in many other fields its co-operation bad been sought "The W. C. T. U. endeavors wisely to promote that humanizing, socializing and spiritualizing of the industrial system which is the ultimate goal of the Women's Trade Union League," said Mrs. Parks. "We have a record of more than 100,000 new women who have enrolled in local unions since -March, 1920," she continued. "The organization map of the United States is wonderfully illuminated by 1,424 bridght red dots indicating the location of 1,424 local unions organized since March, 1920. This number would be much greater. no doubt, but for the absorption of New Jersey and some other states in activities which have prevented the revision of state spot maps to show the new local organizations. The handsome silver cup awarded annually to the . corresponding secretary who makes the best report on the membership campaign in her state goes to Miss Epha Marshall, Illinois. Governor Len Small indicated today that he would take no action pardoning William Bross Lloyd, wealthy Communist party leader, sentenced to penitentiary for violation of Illinois esDionasre laws. "These cases have al ready been disposed of," the governor said.
