TWO WOMEN Chapter 107 Gloria appeared next morning looking like Quite another person in a shabby out-of-date tweed suit, old shoes, wool stockings and her sleek hair hidden under a soft tarn. This was Gloria ready for the woods an amazing contrast to the slim fig ure with the fashionable droop of the shoulders, and the exotic, gorgeous colored gowns. "You look like Just anybody," George greeted her. . Then afraid that what he said wai not polite, when both women laughed at him, he added: "I mean you look like a young girt. I've seen you look like an opera star a movie queen (a gasp from Gloria), a millionaire and a cover for a Futurist magazine " "But sever the simple minded moth.
er creature I really am." put la
Gloria. "Frankie, if you go on eating breakfast all the morning, you can run it straight Into luncheon. And that
will save trouble and dishwashing.
won't it?"
"Urn-hum," agreed FTankie compla

"You're doing your best, at least
Children all. are we to tramp througn
these heavenly woods this morning?''
They were it appeared, and set off
at once, Frankie and a fox terrier in the lead. It was hard to tell which of the two had the largest amount of
restless, untiring energy.
But in the' afternoon, George got
out the car and proposed a drive. The
owner of a famous art gallery where all the good exhibitions were held had a country home IB miles away,
and George wanted to see him about
exhibiting some landscapes.
"Want to comet" he asked them, but
the two women deel! .od, and Frankie was refused permission because be
had to take a nap.
After they had finally persuaded the
younster to sleep, Pan and Gloria
wandered off a little way into the trees
and lay on a blanket on earth cuah
ioned with fragrant brown pine nee
dles.
"Most people have a queer Idea that
sn artist's work, when be works at
all," said Pan, "consists a putting col
or on canvas. They never think of him
as selling a picture, except when a
kind soul comes along, through a gooi
friend, and makes a purchase, or or
ders a portrait."
"That's true. George is an excellent
business man, though he's a good artist too. I think he would have
succeeded eventually through sheer
merit, but that he has succeeded so splendidly at such an early age is certainly du to his cleverness I like to tease him about that, he takes it like a lamb," Gloria answered. "Of
course It's Just like him to dash off
and get that gallery for December.
The man's Just back from Canada, he
says."
Pan smiled, a little smile of pride at any sort of praise of her husband. Their talk reminded her of the letter t - J . V .1 .VaC

quate Income meant. But she told the story of the letter to Gloria, who laughed over it. "Surely an ignorance of life as great
as that must be wilful," Gloria mused
Badly chosen books can give one a
false idea of life, but even bad books
will tell a little truth about what other
sorts of people-do. And newspapers
are simply a daily record of what
other people are doing and think

"Aunt Maude only reads an em
broidery quarterly," laughed Pan,
"though she glances now and then at our local paper. But that's such
small afair it only tells the doings of
the people we know and we. general

sibly as narrow a point or view as
theirs is wilful. I don't know, I don't
think so. I never wanted to be ignorant, but I was terribly, until you res
cued me."
Gloria turned her head slightly cushioned on her soft, cap and her clasped bands, to smile at her young
friend.
"You weren't really Ignorant and
yet you were of course, poor darling
Where you could gain education from schools and books you had done so and bad digested your knowledge very well. You learned volumes from sucn small .experience as came to you " "Morton?" asked Pan smiling and casual. "Yes, that hurt, and made you bitter and cynical in many ways, but it helped you eventually I mean, when you got away from it Had you stayed on, brooding over a lost love, of courss it would have been mental and spiritual death. I've eeen them too the
women who've never survived one early disappointment" "Instead of which it has shown me what real love is my love for George." said an softly. Gloria turned again. "Ah, I'm glad to bear you say that!" she said. Tomorrow Confession

Dar Mrs. Thompson: I am but 16 years of age and I think I am in love with a boy 17 years of age. KHe doesn't pay any attention to mo except to look at me, but he is always talking and laughing to my chum. I don't know what to do. It pains me to see him talk to other girls and not to me. As I said before, be always looks at me but never says a word.
I am anxiously waiting for you to

REDUCING CORSETS
The World's Most Famous Reducing Corset, a Boon to Women of "Stout Figures
Rengo Belt Reduciag Corsets are made especially for Medium and Stout Women for women who are "hard to fit," yet who desire the grace of figure that a perfect-fitting corset gives and who appreciate corset-comfort with good looks. Many a stout woman's tragedy Is not so much "I am stout" as- "I look stout." And It is all the more a tragedy because it is unnecessary, for through proper corseting the stout woman can achieve an effect of slenderness. Rengo Corsets have proved this to many stout women. - The stout woman who has attractive clothes but does not look smartly gowned, naturally feels that it is because she is stout But she is mistaken. She -can attain style, with a poise and distinction impossible for the small woman, if she is properly corseted. Her greatest need Is a Rengo Belt Reducing Corset. An attractive figure Is not a matter of size it Is a matter of correct proportions. Rengo Belt Reducing Corsets through proper proportioning give the wearer an appearance of slenderness. j The exclusive Rengo Belt feature Is the greatest advance ever made In a reducing corset. It reduces the appearance of excess flesh or heaviness, end moulds the figure to the lines of the prevailing fashion. Tte Rengo Belt corrects the abdominal and hip lines in the stout figure, yet gives a degree of ease and freedom which must be experienced to be appreciated. t The exclusive Rengo characteristics are the direct result of the patented Rengo Belt features, which make the corsets doubly strong, keep them in shape, and give elasticity and freedom. Let us show you the wonderful tailoring of Rengo Belt Reducing Corsets. The special steelastic webbing belt over the tooff prominent abdomen holds it flat, and the reinforced back end sides strengthen and slenderize the hips. A few of the popular styles and Prices
