BIBLE CLASS BANQUET ATTENDED BY 41 MEN
Forty-one men attended the first banquet of the Men's Bible class ot
the Reid Memorial church held m tne lower room of the church at 6:30 o'clock
Monday evening. Seated at the tables
the men were served with a fine chick- : en supper after which there were In1 formal talks by members and visitor.
; Dr. William Squier gave an interI esting account of how he helped to
build un- a Sunday school class at
I Princeton, Indiana, and Btated that it
; was his belief that the same principles could be used in building up a similar
class here. One of the statements h
made was that no one Sunday school class in any city could receive a boom : without it having a similar affect cn the Sunday school classes of other
; churches. -
Rev. W. McClean work is teacner 'for the Bible class, and the officers are: L. P. Melody, president; John Norwich, vice president; Harry -Ramsey, secretary, and W. C. Itupe. treasurer.
. A new station to which Richmond fans may listen is announced in the recent improvement of the Ohio State university equipment. The station is now one of the new Class B stations, with a 500-watt output, and a daylight range of 20 to 300 miles. . Daily weather and market reports are broadcasted at 1:30 every afternoon on a wavelength of 485 meters. Reports are supplied by the Ohio Bureau of Markets. The station began operation Nov. 6. Government Radio Control. Originally started to compel observance of naval radio laws which provide
for radio equipment on every ship
carrying 60 or more persons, the government radio service has expanded to enormous proportions. It has licensed
3,859 commercial and 15,504 amateur
radio stations. Non-amateur stations
include 2,773 commercial ships, 1,194
government ships, 575 commercial
land, 284 government land and 511 spe
cial stations. The nine radio inspection districts are under the supervision of the service also. .
Radio Manufactures. The Westinghouse- East Springfield
works In Massachusetts employs 1,000
people, has 80,000 square feet of floor space and ships 1,200 receivers a day. The General Electric company employs 3,000 people in the Schenectady factory and expects soon to expand to a payroll of 5,000 persons.
, Radio for Advertising. A Jealous watch is being kept on
the use of radio for purposes which
may harm the science, one of the most
threatening being its use for advertising. While no serious danger exists
from the larger and reputable com
panies, it would easily "be possible for much annoyance to be caused by the smaller concerns. In many sections, according to an article in Radio Broadcast, the practice already exists. Many commercial houses, some of which have Installed stations, some of which
may be heard in Richmond, which are
being used for indirect, or in some cases, direct advertising. These sta
tions Include firms which have no Interest in radio aside fro the use of it for advertising other products. Canadian Broadcast Control An interesting feature of Canadian
radio is that local associations, such for instance as the ARRL of the ninth district here, may issue amateur broadcasting licenses, and have full control of the boardcasting. Fees may be charged and the association has power to withdraw the license. This gives closer control of the stations thanrby an overhead national organization. A wave length of 250 meters is assigned for such licenses. Chicago Station The station WMAQ, operated by the Daily News, is coming through well in Ohio, according to recent reportb. Even as far as Maryland, one listener reports that he heard whispers, even heard the operator breathe, and complains about the loud ticking of the operator's Ingersoll watch. A number of Ohio and Ontario, Can., stations r?-

To Keep Hair Wavy, Lustrous, Beautiful
The use of the hot curling-iron cannot be too strongly condemned. It means death to the hair eventually. Moreover, it Is entirely unnecessary. Long or bobbed hair can be kept beautifully wavy and curly to any extent and In any form desired, by using the simple and harmless silmerine method. Liquid silmerine should be applied to
the hair before doing it up, using a I
clean tooth crush. in about three hours you will find that a veir pretty "natural" wave and cunliness nas resulted, and the effect, will last quite a considerable time. .Liquid silmerine is really beneficial and Is not sticky nor greasy. Neither does It streak the hair nor .stain the scalp. You need get only a few ounces from your druggist. The best way is to divided the front and back hair into from four to six strands and to moisten each strand separately from root to tip. Advertisement.

your home. Into a pint bottle, pour 2 ounces of Pinex; then add plain granulated sugar syrup to fill up the pint. Or, if desired, use clarified molasses, honey, or corn svrup instead of sugarsvrup. Either way, it tastes good, never spoils, and gives you a full pint of better couch remedy than you could ftuy ready-madtw for three times its cos.f ; It is really wonderful how quickly this home-made remedy conquers a cough usually in 24 hours or less. It seems to penetrate through every air passage, loosens a drv, hoarse or tight cough, iifts the phlegm, heals the membranes, and gives almost immediate relief. Splendid for throat tickle, hoarse neas, croup, bronchitis and bronchial asthma. ' Pinei is a highlv concentrated earnpound of genuine Norway pine extract, and has been used for generations fof throat and chest ailments.
