State an Asked To Be Killed Says Alleged Confession (By Associated Press) WHITE CLOUD, Mich., Oct. 19 The state was believed today to be near the close of its case against Mrs. Med a. Hodell, 20 years old, who is on trial for the alleged murder of her 64 year old father-in-law, David Hodell. The high point in the prosecution, it was intimated, was reached yesterday with the introduction of a signed statement which state police officers indentified as a voluntary confession by the young woman, me alleged confession relates that Hodell was "sick and miser able" and requested his daughter-in-law to "put him out of the way." "And so I 'did," Mrs. Hodell was quoted as saying, "because I thought it would be better for him and better for us if he were 'over there'." Andrew Flemming West, dean of the Princeton graduate school and president of thi American Classical league, has announced that the sum of 1110, 000 is now available tor the investiga tion of classical education in seconflary schools. In a statement announc ing the appropriation Dean West de clared that 125,000 pupils in schools j-Vtributed through every state in the funtry are being tested for a period of two years. German Radical Editor IsExpelled From France (By Associated Press) PARIS, Oct. 19 Frans Dahlen, di rector of the German communist orcan Pote Fahne. who had come to Paris without a passport to attend the communist conference, has been ex pelled from the country. Pahlen was encountered on the street by a secret service man who was following the movements of the Communist gatherings. He made no effort to hide his identity and told the officer that he had come to Paris without the neces fary papers. Dahlen was taken before the police authorities where his iden tity was verified.
